I just played your game.  I love the pixel art and music.  I especially love the title graphic.  The light coming down with the little girl and dog is very cute and engaging.

The controls were a little awkward.  I'd recommend using the 'up' key for jump, and then choosing 2 buttons close together for 'lift' and 'stay' command.  That way your hands won't be forced  to constantly move around the keyboard.

Some refinement to the items on the ground would be nice, as it was hard to tell what they were supposed to be, but that's understandable based on the time restraints you had to do the art.

I loved your artwork and story.  The graphics and music fit the tone of your game perfectly.  Great job!

Thanks for your feedback!  Yes, I agree that the cave presentation needs some more refinement.  I'm actually considering an expanded version of the game (with more refined artwork, more enemies, and power-ups) if there's enough interest.

I'll probably reducing the text typing volume,  And I absolutely will refine that velocity UI elment (you are correct that is was basically in place for debugging).

Thanks for your feedback!  I agree, that restarting at the beginning isn't ideal.  I'd like to make an expanded version that incorporates save states when you reach certain points.

Interesting about the gravity.  I wonder if other's found it more difficult as well.   I'll have to give that some thought.

Thanks so much for your review!

Those are some great thoughts!

I agree, I’d love to add more enemies, upgrades, and story elements.  I am seriously considering making an expanded version of the game if there is enough interest.  Adding improving graphics to things like the planet from space (which was really just a placeholder that I didn’t have time to enhance)

I really appreciate your thoughtful feedback.  I can tell you put a lot of thought into your comments, and I will seriously consider adding some of those elements.

I have a bunch of ideas for improvements to the game as well including more characters,  scenery,  puzzles, and possibly a mother ship.

I really liked your visuals.  The art in the title screen and the graphics were top notch.

The controls felt a little sluggish, and it wasn't clear how to use your staff.  Running and jumping was obvious, but I pressed every key on the keyboard and couldn't find a way to interact with the symbols on the ground.  (Maybe I missed something that should have been obvious?  I'm not sure).

Anyway, great job and the visuals!  If you can tighten up the controls, and include a little instruction, that would go a long way to making it great!

Sounds good.  I am downloading your game now, and will try it out in the morning :)

I'd love it if you played my game "Cosmic Keyhole".

Hi, I just rated your game.  I'd love it if you also played my game "Cosmic Keyhole".  It can be beaten in less than 10 minutes, and has some story elements as well.
Here's the link... I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Very well done.  That was extremely creative.  Probably one of the best one's I've played so far.    With a little more refinement, I could see this working as a really fun interactive storybook.

My only real complaint is that the black hole isn't very responsive.  I have to hold down on the words for a long time before they go away, especially near the beginning.  If you get those kinks worked out, I think you have a real winner.

I'd love it if you played my game "Cosmic Keyhole".

I'd love it if you played my game "Cosmic Keyhole".   Discover an ancient alien tunnel system and a mysterious artifact.

Hi, this is my first Game Jam as well.  I'd love it if you played my game "Cosmic Keyhole".

I just played your game and left a review.  Would you mind doing the same for my game Cosmic Keyhole?

That's a good little puzzle game.  The first 10 levels or so were super easy, but then they started to get challenging.

I liked your little wiggling intro cinematic.

Overall, a very nicely put-together game.

Nice game.  The graphics are good, and I enjoyed the top-down game style.  I really liked your character sprites, and the title screen graphics.

It would be nice if you could attack enemies above and below you (instead of just right and left).  The controls where just a little award, but the game play was pretty solid.

I also really liked your lighting effects.

Nicely done!

Nicely done.  I just downloaded and played the game several times.  I like the groovy 8-bit track and graphics.   The bright colors and sprites are well done!

It would be cool if the cop car was closer behind you to increase the tension, and if the potholes only slowed you down temporary.  Right now, once you hit a pot hole, it slows you down so much that there isn't much reason to keep going (you might as well restart).  If the slowdown was temporary, it would feel like you could have the ability to recover.

Anyway, nice work!  I enjoyed playing your game!

Sorry, I forgot to include the link.  Here it is... https://stevenmonsonyahoocom.itch.io/cosmic-keyhole

I just rated your game.  Perhaps you could rate my game "Cosmic Keyhole".
I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Nicely done.

I like that the black holes change the trajectory of your shots when they get too close.

The portal concept is also very fun.  Though I found that the floaty nature of the ships made it hard to use strategically.

Overall, a very good game, with some very fun concepts!

Thank you very much.  I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Thank you so much!  I really appreciate your comments.  I'm glad you found the controls intuitive.  I worked hard to try and make them smooth and easy to use.

I'd love it if you played and rated my game "Cosmic Keyhole".  https://stevenmonsonyahoocom.itch.io/cosmic-keyhole

I have a pretty unique control system that let's you steer your ship using the mouse.  Adjusting speed is simply a matter of how far the cursor is from the ship.

This is my first time participating in a game jam too!  I'm pretty excited about it, and I worked really hard to get it done if just 5 days.
Here's my game "Cosmic Keyhole".  I welcome ratings and feedback.

I'd love it if you played and review my game "Cosmic Keyhole".

Well done..  Very fun concept, and the execution is great as well.  I like the cosmic timescale where the years pass along as milliseconds.

If you're interested in making a video of my game, Cosmic Keyhole, I would love that!  I recommend playing it with a game controller if you have one.

I'd love it if you played and rated my game "Cosmic Keyhole" .  It's a short adventure game where you explore ancient alien tunnels in search of a powerful artifact that unlocks holes in space-time.

Do you have any problems when the game is mostly controlled through a mouse or gamepad?

Try my game out and let me know if you experience any usability issues with being left-handed...

I'd love it if you wanted to make a video of my game "Cosmic Keyhole".  If possible, I recommend using a game controller, as I recently found a bug toward the end of the game with the mouse. (I assume it is against the rules to fix bugs after the deadline?)  Anyway, it works perfectly, the whole way through with the controller.
Here are some screenshots...

If you're interested, I'd love it if you tried my game "Cosmic Keyhole".
