Huge potential for a more in depth game. I'm thinking similar to Hyper Light Drifter or similar.
Controls are not the most intuitive however. It was difficult to get the character to hit enemies if they were slightly misaligned.

Very nice game! A little improvement and the game would be great.I enjoyed playing it. All the best and Good luck! Do check out our game we need the feedback! - https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-3/rate/574293
Art, music and level design are awesome! There are some unique ideas in the game. Boss could be better. Nice work!
Very good, and polished game! Maybe in a later version add a sound or visual que of the player getting hurt.
Congrats on making a really fun game! The stealth mechanics were very cool, and the decoy ability was pretty unique! A few things that I want to mention; firstly the player's hitboxes were very undefined. This was especially hard in the boss battle, where the bullet hell style fight was tough (and kinda unfair) without clear hitboxes.
Speaking of the boss... The boss didn't really fit with the rest of the game. The game had been training players to use the stealth mechanics; the dimensional hole things and the decoy ability. The boss didn't make use of holes at all, and the decoy wasn't remotely helpful. The boss felt like a vanilla bullet-hell boss, rather than something unique to your special mechanics. The boss's attacks were also pretty boring, it never did anything interesting. Maybe the boss could turn it's back to you, as it charges a move, giving you an opportunity to slip out of sight and engage in stealth? Maybe you could use the decoy to make the boss shoot something, damaging the boss? Perhaps there could be some moves that can't be avoided at all, and require you to hide in the holes? Maybe there could be a lot of obstacles around the place to let you hide from the boss? Or what if you were to combo these for maximum effect, like you use the decoy to manipulate the boss to shoot some supporting column, which damages the roof, dropping rocks that you can hide behind? I think there's a lot more interesting things that could've been done, hopefully these suggestions help with future bosses.
Otherwise, the game was really great, outstanding visuals and stealth gameplay! I would love to see the game fleshed out!
One of the my favorite games in the jam! This was my first game jam, could you give me feedback on mine?
I can fully support the opinion of Jorava.
You guys have created a very high quality game and created all assets by yourself! That's desevers an extra plus.
One of the higher quality submissions! The gameplay was great, using stealth and speed to avoid and defeat enemies. The graphics are excellent, and the music is good, too.
The mechanics support both a rushing and a more cautious approach. The boss fight didn't really match that, it was all about speed and repeating the same sequence of actions. It would've been nice for it to support different styles, too. The rifts didn't have much of a role, I barely had to use them due to other hiding spots.
Awesome game , and really fun , i genuinely enjoyed playing it.
everything is perfect the controls the story the audio !
Great Job !
it would be really great if you checkout our simple game :)

I really enjoyed Rift, i played it in a stream and here's what i liked :
-The art is SO good, it reminds me of Celeste a bit, and also hallow knight, i think it's a mix of both in a 7 days game version lol.
- The ability to hide is so cool, it adds a lot of fun.
- The game mechanics fit so well, it's smooth and easy to controle, i got used to it in two or three attempts.
What needs to be improved :
- The hiding ability needs to last much longer i guess, maybe make it as long as the the bar showing the energy and reduce the refill speed.
- I couldn't pass third level , i start with three lifes and some enemies consume them all with one hit, which can be annoying, i tried running to those ice blocks without killing anyone but always arrive with a half to 2 hearts, and here is a good spot to put something to refill your health, because then comes a lot of enemies besides the previous ones !
- The theme is not well hit thou
it's really fun and kept playing it a lot!
Thanks for playing!
About the hide ability: we hoped that through a bit of trial and error players would see that overhiding or being overaggressive, were both inneffective ways of playing the game. We wanted the player to have to mix it up, a sort of "hit and run" style of play, strategically moving around and attacking certain people to get through to the next area.
In the tutorial room, on the ground it said that each room needed a key to open the door to the next room. This was to prevent the player from just running straight past all the enemies like you attempted haha!
Also the enemies don't actually one-shot you. Just some enemies shoot multiple projectiles from one spot, and if you stand on that spot you end up taking a bunnnnch of damage(apparent one shot). In fact each projectile itself does about 1 or 0.5 hearts of dmg.
This is from my previous comment but here is why the game is related to the theme: “the main character’s skill set and mechanics are based around portals and dimensions. He has the ability to portal to different dimensions(space bar ability), hide in the rift(hole in space) and has a portal-style attack.”
Glad you enjoyed it atleast, and thanks for the feedback!
So far one of my favs of this game jam! Everything is awesome! The only thing I have to say is that you could underline the "holes" theme a bit more :)
