I'll make it available again for now, but there are a few things that I wanted to rework, but not in a way that should substantially affect the story.
Fun fact: EoA was made up of handpainted 3D assets and there was a 3D version, but 3D takes way too much time once you start optimizing art assets and baking lights, and things like that (the library took something like 2 months to complete and is why most of Chapter I is in the library), so I decided to change directions.
Whaddayamean rough edges? lol, they were perfect works of art~
For the point n' click movement, I spent like a week reading up on Python and some of that highschool geometry I'd forgotten. Per K Grok's tutorial on Lemmasoft was also a big help - otherwise I wouldn't even know it could be done in Ren'Py... at least not without breaking Ren'Py's main features.
Anyway, thanks for the comment! I'm glad it was fun!
Also wow, I haven't seen that video in a lo-o-ong time.
I understand some are more sensitive to noise than others (I'm one of them ), but my preference is to give the player the option to choose, when, as in this case, the musician provides a full range of sound.
Poor Mayu.. Can't even be a Vtuber. I really felt for her. Being a vampire sucks! x) I loved the dialogue with Juriel in particular - the contrast of her deadpan delivery with Mayu's personality was very fun. :) Got Ending #8 on my first playthrough and I'll go back to try some others. I was so worried about Mayu being able to pay rent that I just had her work and drink blood, lol, but that was actually a satisfying ending, too.
Also really enjoyed the retro/Gothic music + the UI layout/sprite format.
Wow, the sound design immediately draws you into the world. (Was pretty impressed by how powerful and cinematic the intro was with just sound and (at first) text.) Engaging from beginning to end, enjoyed the banter a lot. The story goes seamlessly from terrifying to fun to unsettling and kept me on the edge of my seat.
(I see that anagram, lol).
Which version of the game do you have? The latest is 1.2a which should solve the bug. 1.1 was definitely broken here, 1.2 may have shown you a repeat version. If you have 1.2a, try this sequence:
Go to the cabin, look at the boat, then the junk, then go to the house and look at Tetrine's luggage, then go back and look at the boat.
The sprite art is simply beautiful, kind of reminds me of vintage/60s fashion illustration (I would love to see more art like this in VNs) . The gothic atmosphere, suspense, and the 'nerves' mechanic all came together really well - and I enjoyed the twist at the end. I wasn't expecting that monster reveal. :-)
Yay, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :)
There will be about 6-8 episodes (each having about three chapters each) or about 45 minutes of content each (not including puzzles, just story content). About six endings are set in stone, but there may be more. The next couple of episodes require me to make a lot of the background art that will be used in the latter parts of the game, so these episodes will take longer than the rest of the episodes to release.
Hello! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Asher.
There are a few things Tetrine wants to do before she will try the drawer again. When you first opened the drawer, Tetrine found the newspaper. If you haven't read it, you will need to go to the card catalog (Tetrine archived it as something important) and read some of the articles. The ones that are important to the story will probably stand out to you.
