Yes I will see if I can find the files on my old computer

Love the art style! I had some problems at first with understanding the controls, but after a few tries I got it. Levels are cleverly designed and challenging. Great job!

Really enjoyed it! Although maybe a bit too easy, but a great casual experience. I could see myself just jumping on platforms just to relax, like meditation. The music also helped to invoke this feeling. Great job!

Nice one! I liked the feeling of the controls and the thoughtful design of the levels. Unfortunately I got caught by a guard, and after that the guard somehow attached to my head and made it nearly impossible to move. Will give it another go and see if it works better. Anyway, good job!

Nice one! Really like this idea and the controller feels good! Unfortunately there was some bug in stage 2 that made the guard attach to me and then I could move around with the guard on my head. Anyway, good job!

Thank you very much for your feedback! Yes indeed, the gameplay is just to survive for now, but objectives is a nice addition that I want to add. I am working on optimizing performance and a fix is on the way. I will make sure to try out your submission in the jam!

Interesting thought! I've always felt guilty for jumping between different projects, and never finishing stuff. I think it's great to work on the things that inspire you, when it comes to a hobby. The problem is you need to have discipline to actually finish projects. Someone said, "finishing is a skill" and that's so true. But whatever way you take to get motivated is fine in my book.

Btw, interesting mix of genres in your game! :)

Totally agree! Getting so much great content to use from the start really helped me to actually finish something instead of just getting lost in a creativity drought.

Thanks! And yes, it felt really good to wrap it up in a playable state and release it as a complete game, even though it is thin. I've learned so much and I bet the next game I make in Pico-8 will be a much smoother ride.

My biggest problem is... I just need to learn to focus and stick with a single project all the way to the end. But these jams are a terrific way of helping with that. Btw, thank you for organizing the jam!

This game looks awesome and polished! Great job! Will try it out!

My goal when joining this jam was to actually finish a game and publish it on itch.io. I often have a hard time staying motivated after the initial inspiration is gone (because I am a lazy bastard), but this time I finally pushed through and got something playable. Unfortunately, I spent too much time working on tools and tinkering with other stuff than making the map design pretty, adding new mob types and items etc. That is why the game feels a bit empty and short. But I'm gonna go with the model that every indie developer seems to use - i.e. EARLY ACCESS :) More content will be added in the future, I promise!

Anyhow, it was a great learning experience and I had fun. Hope you will try the game out!

Wow, that's excellent news! I joined the jam way too late, but this will really help. Now let's back to make a game about... pushing enemies around?

Phew... Managed to implement our hero... This is Ninjack!

Loving Pico-8 so far :)

Oh boy, I got into this jam way too late, and I've never done anything in Pico-8 before so my chances of completing something is rather slim. But I really liked the idea so I wanted to be a part of it!

Ok, time to get some coding done then... Must stop procrastinating...

PS - I also managed to complete AX JOY TOMB! :)

So, I worked some more on the flight controls and I'm finally starting to get the right fast paced "arcade" feeling that I'm striving for. I believe that the most important thing is to make the core game play work and feel right. It should be fun to play even if all the bells and whistles are not there.

Now, I realize I probably won't make it before the end of the deadline but this has still been a fun experiment. I will surely continue working on this and see if I can finish it soon.

Anyway, here's some footage of the flight controls.

Right now I'm struggling a bit with creating good flight controls.... :)

Hi everyone!

I found out about this game jam pretty late and signed up this Sunday. I thought what the heck, I will do my best and see what I can come up with in such a limited time.

I have been noodling around with Unity for about a month and I want to learn making games with it but my biggest problem is that my game ideas grow too big and never get finished. Also, there is the fear of failure, the perfectionism and such things that end up killing my motivation. I think I need a deadline to really push myself a bit more. Hopefully I can get something released this time!

My game idea is to create a simple World War I arcade flight shooter. This brings back "memories" (yes, the game jam theme :) from my childhood when I used to play Wings on my Amiga 500. What a cool game that was!

So I had some time on Sunday to get the basics going, and then I have spent the evenings after work trying to learn how to do various things in Unity. I have set up some rules for myself:

  • Not allowed to buy assets - important to learn to make it myself
  • Ok to use some free assets to save time - I suck at 3d modeling and it would take too much time for this jam

Here is the quite primitive looks right now:
