Really nice reverse boss fight! I liked the variety of attacks the boss could unlock (especially the laser), and the graphics were really eye-catching. It felt like the upgrades ran out a little too early, but otherwise the player improvement scaled with the boss upgrades pretty well. Made it to round 24!

The space background was really well done! I also liked the alien boss art, it reminds me of a beholder. It seemed like there was no limit to the speed you could place asteroids, so I ended up being more spammy than strategic - maybe you could add a cooldown or limit ammo somehow? It could also get frustrating being unable to place asteroids too close to the ship/boss - a fixed zone where you're allowed to spawn them might be easier to keep track of, or you could just always have the forbidden placement region be faintly highlighted. This was a great reversal of the standard arcade game dynamic, nice work!

I really, really liked the music! The drumroll when you die was also a fun touch. I can definitely envision a version of this if you had more time with lots of drop traps mapped to different keys that you have to keep track of at the same time. Nice work!

The graphics and general feel were really nice! I particularly liked the shooting black-screen effect and the flapping sound. It was cool how the hunter AI got better and better over time, but eventually it started to feel a bit repetitive - maybe you could make the rounds shorter, so the AI progression is a bit faster? Overall this was a really cool, polished take on the theme, great work!

This was actually my very first game jam entry back in 2017, but I never got around to making an itch.io page for it until now. Hope you still enjoy!

Thanks for the feedback! I just changed the reset mechanic so that it won't erase your progress anymore.  There is a new version of the game available to download if you want to give it another try.
