Hi there, TheMisterCat here, Age of Hell dev.

I know that some of you have low end computers and that you still want to be able to play our game.  Unfortunately GZDoom is a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to performance & requirements, so it is possible that those of you with older/cheaper video cards may not meet the requirements for the shader model required for a lot of the effects in this game.

I have created a small patch that should let you run the game without shaders -

AOH No Shaders patch (download)

Download this, drag it over the AOH.exe and it should ignore all shader linkages.

Please bear in mind that without shaders you may notice some visual glitches (terrain maps are shown as rainbow colored, some additive effects will display black or white borders), and also that it is likely you may experience poor framerate anyway if your computer is old enough to not meet the shader requirements.

On that note, here is what I would consider a 'minimum' requirement for Age of Hell:

i5 3.2ghz CPU

8gb DDR3 RAM

Geforce GTX 1050 TI 4gb+

---------

Don't fret - if you don't meet these requirements, we will be releasing the 'replacer mod' version of the game, allowing you to run it alongside any other doom content (mod compatibility not guaranteed), allowing you to experience the gameplay of AOH without the uber-detailed maps. Please bear in mind this will take a back seat to actual development, so that we can eventually assure that all assets & gameplay are ported over.

On the bright side, there have been enthusiastic fans who have already managed to port over the existing demo material to the Delta Touch version, so there is light at the end of the tunnel for you people who are not blessed with computers made in the past decade or so.

AoH Apocalypse (delta touch version)

Thank you,

TMC

Hi there.  I have created a patch that allows you to run the game without shaders -

No Shaders patch

Drag this .pk3 file over the AOH.exe and it will ignore all shaders - however, please bear in mind that if your computer was unable to run the game with shaders, it is likely that it is too low-end to play the game at any meaningful framerate.

Once the full game is released, we will be also releasing a 'replacer mod' that lets you play with any Doom custom content/wads - this should let you experience the gameplay, but without the detailed maps & shaders
