Every time I try to open the game, it crashes a few seconds later.

What's your gpu? The shaders can cause a crash with certain (usually old) graphics card drivers.
And what are you doing to load the game? Just running the .exe?

Instead of using effects, modern. In a 2.5D fps game.

And to use mostly zscript.

I would have used Decorate. As for, lighting and shadows.

I would use sectors.

And then yes this game, it would have no problems whatsoever.

I have the same problem

Unable to load shader animbright3:

Init Shader 'animbright3':

Fragment shader:

Fragment shader failed to compile with the following errors:

ERROR: 0:7: error(#206) Assigning non-constant to: const highp float

ERROR: 0:8: error(#206) Assigning non-constant to: const highp float

ERROR: error(#273) 2 compilation errors.  No code generated

Linking:

Fragment shader(s) were not successfully compiled before glLinkProgram() was called.  Link failed.

Hi there.  I have created a patch that allows you to run the game without shaders -

No Shaders patch

Drag this .pk3 file over the AOH.exe and it will ignore all shaders - however, please bear in mind that if your computer was unable to run the game with shaders, it is likely that it is too low-end to play the game at any meaningful framerate.

Once the full game is released, we will be also releasing a 'replacer mod' that lets you play with any Doom custom content/wads - this should let you experience the gameplay, but without the detailed maps & shaders
