Thanks very much for taking the time to play and comment. You're absolutely right, there is some polish missing (music, animation). This is jam build that I plan to keep developing, so I am fine with that for the time being. I just wanted to meet the deadline with something that looks good and that can be played from the beginning to the end. All that reading is part of the genre. Not for everybody, I know. It's just a gaming phase I am going through. .. :)

I am yet to play your game, but it's one of the ones I have bookmarked for rating.

Thanks again!

I really like the concept of your game, with the focus on adventurer management, rather than on fighting. I can see myself sinking a few hours into this one once it's finished.

As a constructive comment, I have the impression the UI is a little cluttered at times. Maybe it's because I played on full screen, but I reckon a smaller font and smaller portraits might improve the player experience. Also, some windows could do with a "close" button. Sometimes you want to get rid of a popup but it's hard to know how.

Anyway, as I said, it looks great. Two thumbs up!

Not yet, I'm still playing. Maybe change the period for "enter" or "space"? It might be less MI-like, but more user friendly. :)))

I just fixed a small bug in the tutorial thanks to Solo Man Games. For some reason, the tags were slightly displaced in the last bit of the tutorial, which made some of the text unreadable.

Thanks for reporting it.

I really liked the concept of mixing  internet literacy with gameplay. Cool graphics and smooth interactions. I have not yet finished it, but I am enjoying your game so far. Thanks!

Great work! Nostalgic vibes all around. As a long-time MI fan I remember chasing the shopkeeper all around Melée Island to crack the safebox puzzle. You have really managed to capture that very atmosphere. Congratulations!

I think it'd be great if dialogue could be skipped faster by clicking the mouse.

That's a really cool concept, really imaginative! It's fun to play too. Congrats!

Thanks for letting me know, it's obviously my fault. There is a weird bug that displaces the tags in that particular screen. Godot being Godot, I suppose. I think I got it fixed and I uploaded a new version of the game.

All there's left in the tutorial for you is to complete those 2-3 words, though. If you have already made it that far you can simply launch into the game. :)

Did you finish the game in the end? :)

Was it fun?

I have uploaded the first complete version of Tessa Blackwood's Crime Time. The game is now playable from the beginning to the end.

Your task is to explore the long-forgotten death of twin sisters Betty and Lisa Bell and compile a true crime podcast in the process. Gameplay is somewhere in between the Roottrees and Golden Idol.

I have made an honest effort to make the game deep (within the limits of a solo effort), long, and pretty. There is text parser, a search engine, an interactive pinboard, and a storyline to complete with clues you find along the way.

I am quite satisfied overall. However, this is my first mystery-type game and I find myself at a loss as to whether it is sufficiently engaging.

I intend to keep updating the game in the coming weeks as I get feedback, so your ideas to improve gameplay are welcome.

In particular, I would love to know if the search engine is interactive enough, i.e. if there are enough keywords and searches for the player not to get frustrated.

Just a little bump because of a major update: browser support added!!   :)

Hi!

I just released a game named "Tessa Blackwood's Crime Time". It's about compiling a true crime podcast while you solve a long forgotten mystery.

Here's the link to the itch.io page: Tessa Blackwood's Crime Time

Some eye candy below! :D

I hope you enjoy it!!!
