Hey there, the currently available physical version won't include it as its the original Bubble Frog. Ink Zone is part of Bubble Frog DX which is the updated version of the game for the Steam Release (and Gameboy Color Only) which I'm open to doing a physical release of if I find a publisher who's interested, but nothing is confirmed yet :)
I really enjoyed this, a lot of potential there! I feel like maybe some music in the background could have helped a little as without it the game feel was a bit off, but even that is veeery much down to my personal preference and not really a deal breaker on a fun concept, game, and use of the theme! :)
Thanks!
Yeah the controls are something I wish I'd tightened up. After developing the game I'd gotten used to them so didn't really realise how unpleasant they'd be for others to play with - the annoying thing is it's very easily fixable >.<
The Z/X thing is part of the web based emulator running the ROM rather than the game its self I believe. I'll take a look at it and see if I can offer an alternative after the Jam is over :)
Haha yeah I wish I'd had more time to make a better ending but was limited to the 48 hours due to other projects. I'm thinking of developing the game (or at least the concept) further in the future and one of the major things I wanna do is give it a real ending! :D
Thanks so much for the feedback! <3
Thanks so much! :D
Yeah I really wanted to build the theme into the mechanics more but with the limitations of Game Boy hardware plus the limitations of my skills it felt out of my scope for a short project like this. I'd wanna build it in more if I go back and develop the idea further in the future though! :)
Hey there! So sorry for the late reply, I wrote an answer but seems never clicked the "Post Reply" button haha.
I used this awesome reference project file to learn the bits I need https://www.reddit.com/r/gbstudio/comments/ryq0ey/flappy_bird_port_source_code_r... I hope it helps! :D
Also Bubble Frog uses no plugins, it's all done via base engine stuff :)
A really fun concept, visually strong identity. The music that plays during the gameplay fit perfectly although some sound in the intro would have been nice. Gameplay was fun although could do with some polish (warning indicators for where the road blocks are coming from when you're trying to fight the bikers at the right of the screen for example). Some real potential here though. Feels like with some more dev time this could be a really rewarding game on par with the likes of Jetpack Joyride. Also if it wasn't running on a GBA emulator I'd have never guessed it was running to GBA specs! :D
