It's one buck, come on...

Thank you very much for your kind comment!

This feature is now in the game! The final version just launched.

Quiz questions were added!

Lol it ended up releasing on december on steam 😅

The game finally launched! there are 200 questions now and the new ones are a bit more tricky, I hope you'll like the new features!

The game is finally out!

Hello everyone!

Fallacy Quiz, the game I designed to test your critical thinking skills and to help you learn about misleading or incorrect reasoning is finally out of early access after months of work!

Here are the features that were already in the early access

  • Solo or local multiplayer, Up to four players can play together.
  •  A great variety of fallacies: 50 different fallacy types.
  • A virtual 3D book: The fallacies have definitions available in a glossary that the player can flip through as if it was a real one.
  • Two difficulty levels: In expert mode, the player must not only identify if a statement is fallacious but they must also select the specific type of fallacy.
  • A custom mode: Players can choose the difficulty, the number of rounds and questions and disable the timer if they want.
  • Available in English and in French
  • Full controller support

But here's what new:

A ton of new content!

Version 1.1 brings the total number of questions to 200, adds some new fallacy types and adds brand new illustrations. This is way more than the initial amount of content. The more you play the more chance you'll have to encounter tricky and divisive questions.

Previous content was also reworked and improved.

Achievements

One of the most exciting additions are achievements!

The game was released on Steam recently and achievements were added for the steam version. So when it came time to release 1.0 to itch.io, I couldn't settle for a subpar version for people who supported development and got the game in early access. That's why I spent some time making an internal achievement system so that you can enjoy achievements too!

There's a notification system to let you know when you unlock achievements, and there's a brand new achievement notebook. You can flip its pages to check which achievements you've unlocked and which ones you still have to get.

I'm really happy with the final result and I think it adds a lot to the experience.

Question History

A new screen is now available at the end of each quiz, the question history screen. This is for players that want to up their game.

It works in all modes, solo or multiplayer, and it let's you check what were the questions, what were the correct answers and what everyone answered. It was suggested to me, and it was a really good idea, so I made it happen!

It's a great way to learn from your mistakes, or settle some disagreements you had with other players during the game.

Secret difficulty option

I don't want to talk too much about that one, it's a secret, but there's a third difficulty option in the game. However, you need to work hard to unlock it!

Fixes and improvements

I could not possibly make a list of all the things that were fixed or improved since the early access version that would fit on this screen. Everything is more polished than ever!

That's it!

That's it, in 5 days, it will be the anniversary of the start of this project. I worked so hard for the last year on this quiz game, and it's finally released. I can't be thankful enough to the people who supported the game's development and got the game in early access, I can't wait to know what you think about the final version!

If you didn't get it in early access, you can go check it out!

See you around!

I'm glad you like it ! I'm working on my latest game Fallacy Quiz right now (it's releasing tomorrow!!!), but I might get back to this old project some day!

Interesting idea, how do you make sure there's an endstate? I got 24 xD EDIT: 82

New Update!!!

Congrats on the release! I got this game when it first came out! I'll check this update.

Thanks a lot for your comment! Nothing's perfect and the trailer is the first thing people will see, so I was willing to see if it could be improved further. Yes I'll try to get that kind of support once it's release, I can't juggle with making the game and doing outreach...

Hi there!

My game is called Fallacy Quiz

I'm getting closer to a 1.0 and an official release, so the look of the game is pretty close to the final thing. That's why I took some time to make an actual trailer for the game. The thing is when you've been working on something for half a year you are not the best to know if a trailer for it is right or not. I would like some feedback because I'm still able to update it before the release that will likely be next month.

Also if you have any feedback on the itch page or even the steam page let me know.

Feel free to be as blunt as you need, I'm trying to make it as good as possible before the release so I'm open to criticisms and I'm ready to hear what you have to say.

Thanks for your time!

Fallacy Quiz

I wouldn't say everyday, but a short hike was surprisingly good imho

Merci :D

Thank you very much for this in-depth comment :3

Merci beaucoup :D

Thanks :)

This is so funny 😅

Hi! You have to get a score of 5000 on easy mode, try to get combo bonuses and time bonuses to get higher scores :)

Hi there, thanks :) ! It's in English and in French for the time being, other languages might be added after the final release, but nothing is sure for the time being.

Mince j'ai passé quelques jours sans répondre et plus personne ne veut me parler ^^'

Wow, thank you so much for trying it out! It's the first time I see someone using the glossary, it's really cool to share thanks :)

Hi! This is now possible since update 0.2, the game now has a custom mode :)

Hello! With update 0.2, the game now has a custom mode where you can select to not have any timer, hope you'll like it :)

It was added to the list in the 0.2 update! Quiz questions using it are yet to be added in a future update ;)

Hi there! I took your feedback into account, those are indeed two different fallacies, and are now both in the game since the last update. But... I forgot to correct the "unkocked" so it's going to be corrected in the next minor update! Thanks again. :)

Hi there! Yes this game is in early access at an early access price. It just got updated, you can check the devlog here

Feel free to share feedback, suggestions or tell if you encounter any issues 😊

Thank you very much for the feedback. 1) The reversed version is being considered and could be added in the future, but it means a significant addition of content, so it might be only choosing between two versions of the sentence. 2) Totally forgot to update that screen thanks for reminding me
😅

I'm not sure I understand 😅. The game is in early access for Windows, Linux and Mac. It'll be released here and on steam. A version is planned for Android, no version planned for iOS yet.

Thank you very much :)

Hey you might consider scrapping the 64 by 64 constraint for texts, lowrezjam is cool but if you're enhancing your game, don't limit yourself to the original constraints of the jam. You could keep pixelated text, just double or triple the resolution. you could try monogram for instance: https://datagoblin.itch.io/monogram or https://not-jam.itch.io/not-jam-font-pack

Okay, I'm going to try to update this week! Stay tuned!

Hey, sorry for the delay but publishing on Steam turned out to be more complicated than expected. I have to make some changes and go through a review process. This has pushed back the release date on steam. However updates are planned on itch in the meantime, the next update will include the Fallacy Glossary. Thanks for your patience and your interest in the game!

Ahah Thank you very much, can't wait to share the next updates with you to push that cursor even more ;)

Thank you very much for this feedback, I'll look into it for the next release :)

Thank you so much :). I'm still working on the glossary for the final release ;). About "Eating more fruits and vegetables won't make you immortal" it's valid formally, but it can be an informal fallacy anyway. In the final version I plan to change it to something like "No, I won't eat that. Eating more fruits and vegetables won't make you immortal anyway." to give more context.

Hi thanks for the feedback! Yes some of the statement will have more context for the release, otherwise they can be misleading. But it's also hard to not give it away too easily ^^. Could you give me your specs? I could try to include some settings to make it run better but uglier.
