Hi, I am Md. Touhidur Rahman and I started Game Dev with Godot ~2 months ago. I joined my first Game Jam about a month ago and made a really silly game and wanted to try out an onsite one. Thanks to United Group and BUET for the opportunity to try to gain the opportunity to join an onsite Game Jam. Haha.
Anyways, jokes aside, I was curious about what kind of projects my fellow Bangladeshi Godot developers were making. What kind of game are you planning to make for this Jam and what are your feelings regarding Godot game development altogether, kindly let me know!
See you at the leaderboard!
Nice game! The graphics could be better but for creativity, I somehow gave you 5stars. I did not like how everything was blury. For card games, things should have been clearer.
Also, there should have been some indication of how many days I have to pass before getting a mystery box.
Anyways, good luck!
I would have liked if instead of a little movement in each button press, you would have allowed the players to move freely. Even the default CharacterBody2D movement would be better. Also, not sure why everything looks blury but I would have like a bit more zoomed out camera. I kind of like the art though. But cannot interact with any button. Also, kindly allow WASD along with arrow keys for movement next time.
Nice job. I hope these critiques will enable you to make better puzzle games in future.
I rated it 5 stars on creativity. Even after pressing spacebar a couple of times and trying to rotate and move I was not sure what to do. I did not have any idea about how the topography was around me and only saw some waves. Although the idea is creative, I am not sure how the gameplay works. Maybe the sonar needs to work in a way that players would know where to go.
Maybe this critique will be helpful when you finish this game.
The random ghost appearance is a nice idea. But it wasn’t that scary. When I first saw the ghost, I tried to see its full body then died. I almost thought the suspects became ghosts. But after finding the first suspect I lost interest. The reason was the map did not have the name of the locations so even if i find it it is still hard to mark which is which. Also, it looks pixelated on full screen and the text looks bad. I suggest you to try different fullscreen options in Godot to find the one where text looks good. I have always hated unreadable text or blury text in video games because finding new info is not enjoyable if the text is blury or pixelated to read.
Anyways, nice idea though. But accessibility could have been better.
By the way, did you implement the theme somewhere? I could not find it.
Really weird, the game is completely open source so it being flagged by an anti-virus is unlikely. Never heard anything like this before in the community.
Regardless, you can play the game by installing Java from here: https://adoptium.net/temurin/releases/ (Choose any JRE with Java 8 or above)
Restart your System.
and then download the JAR file for the game from here: https://github.com/yairm210/Unciv/releases/latest
And then double clicking the JAR file will start the game.
