Sadly it is not possible for me to do anything to recover comments that have been deleted. Thanks for playing the game and leaving a comment though!

Hi there! Here is a quick step-by-step guide to playing the game:

1) Download it on your computer. Note: Make sure if you have a Windows computer, you download the Windows file. If you have a Mac computer, download the mac file instead. You say you've downloaded it already, so you can skip this step if you downloaded the right one.

2) Go to the downloaded file. It should end with ".zip".

3) Right click on it and "extract" the files. This will create a new folder.

4) Open that new folder and look for the ".exe" file. That's the game! Just double-click it to play.

Good luck and hope this helps! If not, you can detail the problem and I can guide you from there.

Thank you!!

Thank you for the comment! I'm glad you care for Button and the MC so much. It might be nice to have a sweet ending where the mushroom girls can live longer, but I won't be able to promise it. I know a lot of people have requested it, so I will consider it.

Kind of! "Finn" is his default name if you can't think of one for him, and he thinks of it from his dead pet fish.

Hi, I can tell you a bit!

I realise now how ambitious I was in wanting to have both routes done by mid-year. I takes a lot more time than I expected. I also didn't anticipate how much I'd need to learn and redo. On the plus, I think I've gotten better at drawing and coding :)

Now that the story is more or less finalised, I'm working on replacing all the placeholder art assets with their final forms, playing the game multiple times and making sure I feel good about it. Then the music composer and I will work together on new songs, or even replacing old ones. After that, I need the extra time to do some drawings for marketing/make a trailer.

At this point in time, I think the expanded game will still come out within 2024, just closer to the end of the year. I agree with you that it's smarter (and healthier) to spend more time on it making sure it's a better experience for everyone.

Thanks for your interest and for checking in!

I see! Sadly this game can’t be played on the phone, only on a computer. Thank you for the comment and hope you enjoyed watching the videos!

Hi there

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble downloading the game. There is probably be something on your computer that is preventing the download. Unfortunately, I don’t think there is anything I can do for you.

Also, this game is geared towards a mature audience, so while it might look fun, it can be very dark as well, so please exercise caution! This game is not for everyone.

Good luck!

His default name is “Finn”. I’m glad you think he’s cute! Thanks for the comment :)

Thank you for playing and contributing to Button’s tears bucket!

That's wonderful! I hope you enjoy the process of making your own games! I recommend watching a lot of YouTube tutorials as that helped me a lot and they can be very inspiring.
I'd love if you could send me a link to your first game whenever you complete it. Good luck! :)
Thank you for your incredibly encouraging comment, and I hope you enjoy the new routes just as much when they are out!

I just thought it would get really confusing XD

(also thanks!)

This is a much delayed reply, but thank you so much for playing and leaving this kind comment! It makes me happy to hear that someone enjoyed it and is excited for the larger game. I'm working on the expansion and learning a lot, so thank you for your patience! :D

Thank you so much for your enthusiasm and support!! I’m glad you loved Button and that her route gave you a good cry :) I hope you’ll like the new characters too when they’re done.

It’s an honour.  Thank you for playing.

Aw, thank you so much, Strawberry! It's so lovely to hear that you enjoyed the game and could relate so strongly to both the characters. Thank you for being excited for the update and for all the support! Comments like these are so motivating <3

No soul needed! Button's happy just spending time with you :) no matter how much time that is.

Hey, thank you! I'm not sure about the cost just yet, but I don't think it'd be as much as $15, so I hope you'll be able to play it :)

Hi there. To start playing the game, you need to 1) download the game, then 2) extract the .zip folder, then 3) start the .exe application in the extracted folder.

If that’s not the problem, please explain your situation and I’ll try my best to help you.

I’m happy to hear that :) Thanks for playing!

I really like your ideas! Thank you so much for the suggestion and inspiration! You describe it really well and I can almost see it in my head already.

I've never tried making an Android version of anything, so it'll take some research, but I'd really like it to be accessible to anyone, so I'll see what I can do :)

(1 edit)

Thanks for playing and for the idea! I Maybe I should try disable the ability to scroll back just for that section... I do want it outside of the challenge, as I honestly like that players can easily scroll back if they accidentally miss dialogue. It also makes going back to previous choices easier for finding endings.

Nice name and ending idea!

Thank you so much! I made a walkthrough here that can help you reach those endings:

Thank you so much for playing the game and leaving such a sweet comment! A lot of people seem to want Button to live longer so I’ll take that as a sign that you guys like her :)

Hello, do you still need help?

If you let me know where you are getting stuck, I can try to assist you.

I'm glad you're excited for the full version! Thanks for playing :)

Thanks for playing my first game! I'm glad you thought it was good :)

Hi there! Thanks for checking out my page. If you've watched LaurenZSide's video completely, then you're already past the worst bits. I hope you enjoy, if you do end up playing!

Thank you so much for playing and enjoying the game so much! I'm glad you want to spend more time with Button :) I'll see for the final game, but can't promise anything right now. Seems a lot of people want that, so it's something to bear in mind.

Also, thanks for following me and saying you love my art! That's so motivating to hear and I really appreciate your interest in the game. The next post on itchio will probably be closer to the game's release, but if you want to follow the game's progress I'm also posting on my Patreon.

Anyway, hope you have a good week!

We will see... ;)

Thank you! :D

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it. And you are in luck - the full game is coming out around the middle of the year (hopefully)! I have a Patreon with the devlog (https://www.patreon.com/trubluIs), but else I'll make an announcement on itch.io as well. Thanks for the support.

Hi, here's that sneak peek I mentioned! This is the first draft of character designs, and there's another one for the other character on my Patreon here.

This is such a sweet comment! Thank you so much for playing the game and leaving me with your thoughts and compliments, Awserz.

I’m glad you like the last two endings, despite how much they deviate from the other ones, and that the themes were dealt with in a way that felt natural. It’s also a personal win when I hear that someone felt their own thoughts reflected during this game :)

Your side note made me laugh. The guys at Meet ‘n Eat definitely don’t care about anyone’s rights. I think they don’t even consider the mushroom girls as anything other than a novelty object.

Lastly, thank you for your salty contribution to the tears bucket :) Hope you have a great weekend!

Don't worry! Now and then I'll make some public posts and alert those on my twitter account. I'm thinking of giving a lil public sneakpeak of character designs soon :)

Thank you!!! :D

Thank you so much for the sweet comment, and especially the tip on making audio loops more seamless! I'll tell the composer so it can be even better for the full release :D I'm also glad you like how we used dynamic audio - I really liked implementing it and it's wasn't as tricky as I'd feared.

It’s such a pleasure - Every comment is special and important to me, so I have a lot of fun replying to them! And I want to let anyone who made an effort to comment how much I appreciate it. Excitement is infectious, so it’s great we can share it between us :) Thank you for staying excited Kiv_by!

Hi Solstice Solstice!

Thank you so much for playing my game, and for the congratulations! "Signature creativity" is quite the compliment!

I'm glad that the "absurd" bits don't detract from the serious subject matter I wanted to explore. It was important for me that, despite the wacky situation, the characters themselves don't feel whimsical, so it feels real means a lot to me. I also really like your detailed breakdown of Button's character - you're picking up on things that I put in there subconsciously, so I find it interesting.

You mention that you could easily see ways it could be expanded upon. I feel the same way and have a few ideas, though I am curious what you think. Since you enjoyed the game, I thought you might be interested to know that I'll be making an announcement on my itch.io devlog and Twitter before the end of the week regarding this game's future. If you are subscribed, which I think you are, you should be alerted.

There should only be nine endings. Please let me know if I or someone else suggested that somewhere so I can attend to it. Otherwise if you are stuck on an ending or you think a bug is causing the issue, feel free to describe it and I am happy to help. I've also got a walkthrough tutorial posted on my devlog you can check out.

Thank you again for writing such an in-depth review. It brightened my day to read it :)
