Sorry to hear about that. Can you post your profile.sav file in our Discord (in the Bug Reporting channel)?

Alternatively, if you don't mind losing your unlock progress, you can delete your profile.sav file and it should run after that. Your profile.sav file is located here:

C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Void_War

Hello, this should be fixed in the latest version, Alpha v0.0.5a. Your game version number is visible in-game at the bottom left corner of the screen. You can download the latest version by going to your Itch library and re-downloading the game from there.

Windows only for now. Mac is coming later. Linux, maybe. GOG, maybe.  More details in the FAQ here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2853590/discussions/0/4695658570140629717/

Thanks for the report! We will investigate.

Yes, we will keep the Itch version updated and DRM free.

Thanks for the bug report. We will check it out.

We will be reaching out to those who made it at a later date. Thanks for your support!

Hi, thanks for submitting these reports. This bug has been fixed in the latest version of the game, Alpha v0.0.5a. We definitely recommend downloading it before you start your next run.  Glad you're having fun with the game!

(I've deleted your other posts about this bug since it has already been fixed.)

Ah darn, you're right. Looks like we'll have to fix it for the next patch. Thanks again for the help.

Thanks for the bug report! We will look into it ASAP.

Thanks for reporting! Just FYI this bug and a bunch of other annoying issues have been fixed in Alpha v0.0.5. Definitely recommend updating if you have a chance!

Full patch notes and install instructions here:  https://tundra-interactive.itch.io/void-war/devlog/820981/backer-alpha-patch-5-s...

We will reach out to all Itch buyers after the Steam release. Itch has a process for handling the transfer: https://itch.io/docs/creators/download-keys#external-keys-steam-etc

Go for it!

Hotkeys and tooltips will happen eventually. Stay tuned!

Hello! I'll answer what I can. No Steam Deck support currently but we will look into it at a later date. If you browse the comments below you will find a couple of people who seem to have it running on Steam Deck using something called Wine. Might be worth asking them for help.

Each run is roughly 3-5 hours depending on Torment level. The later Torments (T4+) tend to be on the longer side. Plenty of new features that we are still working on. Rearrangeable crew portraits is a big one. Lots of additional things that we are not ready to announce. We also have not determined the final price on Steam yet, though it will be definitely be higher than the current price of the Itch Backer Alpha.

That is odd. Could be something weird with your anti-virus. Void War was built and compiled in a very popular existing engine for indie games (Game Maker Studio) so it really shouldn't trip any anti-virus warnings. So far no one else has reported anything like this yet.

We will keep an eye on this. If you figure out a solution, let us know!

Szczypior is correct. We on the team have been wanting this exact feature for years now, but we need to finish the content first. Don't worry, rearrangeable portraits will definitely happen at some point!

Also, thanks for reporting that bug. We will fix it.

Thanks for posting. We will check it out and get it fixed as soon as we can.

Thanks for the bug report! We'll look into it.

I know we already talked about this on Discord, but answering this again for future comment readers.

Our composer will decide how to release the music when the soundtrack is complete, likely at some point after the Steam launch. We've always planned to release it, but how and when will be totally up to him when the time comes.

Currently the game isn't integrated with the Itch app but we will be looking into it soon! Thanks for playing!

Hi, Void War currently does not support macOS however in the future we will definitely release a Mac version. This will happen some time after the Steam release. If you have already bought the game here, we will be able to transfer your game to Steam when it eventually launches there.

If you want to get a refund the proper procedure is to contact Itch support about it: https://itch.io/support

Lastly, we have heard from some of our players that the Windows version of the game (the one you have) works with CrossOver, a Windows emulation software for Mac. We cannot guarantee it will work, but if you really want to play it right now on Mac, CrossOver might be worth a try.

Hello! Glad you're enjoying the game! The easiest way to fix this is to delete your profile and reboot the game. Note that you will lose your ship and commander unlock progress if you do this.

Your profile.sav file can be found here:
C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Void_War

If you don't want to lose your progress or if the above method does not work, feel free to join our Discord and post a bug report. You can include your profile.sav file in the bug report and I'll see what I can do to fix it. The Discord invite link is at the bottom right corner of the main menu.

Awesome. Great intel. Thanks for the update!

Probably not. But we don't really know. It's just the two of us making this game and neither of us has a Steam Deck yet! If it works, let us know!

We'll look into it. Thanks for the feedback!

The Itch Alpha will be English-only but we will definitely translate to Spanish and other languages at some point after the Steam release.

Great feedback. Thanks for your support!

If there is enough interest from modders in our community we will absolutely add mod support. A couple of people in the Discord have already built a ship mod for the game.

We'll look into it. Thanks for your support!

Definitely recommend giving the Torment modes a try if you're an expert player who has no problem with Normal. Adds a lot more content and variety.

Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the vid! We'll fix it.

Thank you for the feedback! It really helps us figure out how to improve the game.

The bug where squares can no longer be clicked should be fixed in the latest version, Alpha v0.0.3d (your current game version is shown in-game at the bottom left corner of the screen).

You can always download the latest version by going to your Itch library and re-downloading Void War from there. If you are running the latest version and still getting this bug, please file a bug report in our Discord (Discord link is at the bottom right corner of the main menu).

By the way, if you hold down LEFT ALT you can temporarily hide unit tooltips. This can be really helpful when their tooltips are getting in the way.

My Discord username is morph888. Add me and I'll send an invite.

We will look into it. Thanks for reporting this and thanks for your support!

Void War  is about making starships, lasers, and powered exoskeletons fight against necromancers, occult magic, and demonic summoning. It's a universe that goes way over-the-top in mixing dark fantasy/sci-fi  themes together and seeing what comes out. Dark magic ritual sacrifice.  Expendable cyborg meat slaves.  Arcane starship modules that make all non-lethal spells lethal using the power of hate. That sort of thing.  It's so dark it's silly, and that's what makes it fun.

This has a lot of implications for gameplay, but one of the big ones is an extremely fleshed out crew combat system. Over 70+ unique  crew types,  140+ wargear options for outfitting your crew,  consumable equipment, psychic powers, customizable commander units, and more.

I wrote more about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ftlgame/comments/1f8ysvz/comment/llhugr3

Our initial teaser trailer doesn't communicate this stuff very well unfortunately. We will be posting a new, more in-depth trailer very soon.

Not planned yet, but we will be looking into it later down the road.

Noted! And thank you for the kind words. Hope you continue enjoying the game!
