Heck yeah!

I got an idea of what I want to work on, and while I am gathering notes right now (mostly moodboards and guidelines) I wanted to know if we could start early? Some jams want peeps to start when the time starts, lol.

PIsh, I haven't beaten _any_ souls game. However, I normally like reading about the lore.

Are we able to organize a team to make the game?

Really good work! Good job!

Oh, beans. My editor must have changed it; Was suppose to be a sheet or paper to use a character sheet. I will quickly make one though.

What the title says.
Also, hi.

Got more than 24 hours remaining. Are people happy with where they are at?

I want to thank you all for joining the jam and participating. You are amzing.

From my Review on my rating
Really fun, glad I got to take part in playtesting. I still think about it from time to time.

This is a solo or group TTRPG that I made in roughly one week, though I been brewing the core mechanics for a while. Your goal in the game is to make a gift for a child's birthday party that your family invited you to. Do you try and keep the gift tame, maybe just visually appealing, or do you "accidentally" give the child a death ray?

Check it out today!

Great note!
Yeah, you don't need to do each mission, but they are different missions a player could do, and change how the dungeon is played, depending on things. I am still 'figuring' out the best way to lay it all out, but will consider making that concept more clear!
Again, thank you so much for taking time looking it over!

That is also super fair! I will also keep that in mind!

Thanks!

I was thinking that as well, tbh. I am still learning how I want to handle it, but I will def keep in mind that in the next one!

So, I posted my judgements using the itch.io thing, but it didn't post the way I expected to; so I am going to just type a message here. I hope this all finds you well.

First off, I want to thank every single person who submitted, or even considered submitting to this game jam. I was a bag of uncertainty when it came to how well this was going to go, as this first one I ever hosted. I absolutely loved EVERY  SINGLE SUBMISSION. These games, and submissions all gave me a big smile when I read them, every time I seen them. And I am super excited to take what I learned next time to apply to my next game jam a year from now.

I want to ask: If you have any thoughts or opinons on how to improve this for next year, please tell me! Be as critical as you want, I can take it. I promise I won't cry (a lot).

Now, lets get into why you all might have come here for; judge's choice. Who did good enough to say that they got judge's choice this year:

Trashed Crash Pandas Zachary
My Grandmother’s Recipes Book to Occult Organisations theMimic
The City Ethereal Chubby Crow Games
Flippin Kicks JewelledCrown

These are the first place submissions, each of them spoke to me in what they wrote, and how they played out. Each of them got the rank of "1st" place, as they got near perfect marks from me.

I been arguing to myself about the other "ranking" positions, but I am not going to post any of the other positions. not that there was a huge difference in them. Most people did so good that they are runner ups in their own right. I could sit down and just dig into all these submissions and just play and have fun. You all did an amazing job, and if you take the time to partake next year, I will be so happy with that!

I will probably try and get more than myself as a judge though; it was really hard to do that part by myself.

Yeah, I will contact you! Sorry about that!

Thank you so much! You are amazing!

I mean, maybe not the occultish things; but I am sure it will generate a cult because how awesome it is!

That is completely fair, my twitch is www.twitch.tv/yftechno. Love the other answers about the game, super interesting!
I followed you on twitter!

I missed and forgot a few questions on the submission form; I don't know if you can go back and edit it, but mostly:

  • Can I stream me going over this game?
  • Can I make a post on my site, linking to this game?
  • What sub-themes does your game shoot for?
  • Anything you want to say about the game? Like design goal, etc.
  • Also, any socials you would like to share?

Sorry for the late response, I was asleep.

But, yeah! That is totes fine, and even encouraged! I would love to see new systems, but I would love to see content for other established systems as well! Do what inspires you!

Hello!

It is just a fun little way to add twists to the jam; at least that was the intent. As there is no prize, the "ranking" will be based on everyone who votes opinions; except for the judge's thing, which is Me.

My big criteria will be :

  • Does it hit the themes it attempted to do
  • Creativity
  • Simplicity
  • How you used your medium (If you built a system, I want to see the different parts and how it works, if it is an adventure, then I want to see how you use that to your advantage)

I am SO sorry that I have been bad about getting this updated. It's my first time running a game jam, and I really only gave myself a month to figure every thing out; which honestly wasn't a good enough time xD

I am glad to answer any other questions though!

What if you don't have a Tarot Deck?
Do you know of a good solution for those of us who might not have that?

So, playing this again. You had not fixed some of my issues, I am unsure if you worked on the controls to make it a bit more tight, as I don't remember how floaty it felt, but I will assume right now that it was fixed somewhat.

Further things to consider:

  • The background and foreground need some help distinguishing between the two, especially in the train. You could achieve this by dulling the backgrounds colors a bit more, and/or using parallax technics.
  • I didn't realize that if you go left, you still look right; which isn't that natural. Especially since you have enemies, that the player might want to fire at to be safe, as they can immediately stop all your progress. I am unsure you you want to handle shooting at different angles or anything, but yeah.

I will say, my skill level for the levels after the boss fight is just not there, I don't normally play this style of game, so bear that in mind I guess. I also normally skip level 3, as I can't do the on the train part well :x

I like the addition of another character though, that was kind of neat. And giving options to the player with how they wanted to handle the thing.

By the way, you are doing self playtests as well, and making sure you can complete the levels you make right? I know that is a common thing people who make tons of levels sometimes forget to do. And will help you distinguish if things are fair challenge or not.

First off, nice concept and execution for the game. I enjoyed the 'lore' comment later in, that was funny.

Some notes on things to maybe help at least my enjoyment of the game

  • I feel the movement was really floaty and hard to control;
  • The camera; the fact it was not attached to player at the beginning had me super confused; plus being able to see more would be useful info.
  • Maybe tweaking the collision boxes to be smaller (to help dodging things).

Overall, interesting gameplay loop. A few notes about my experience.
1) I was having a weird sound bug when I released a movement key; almost like the sound speed up to end it at that moment or something? It mad a very loud putter like sound.
2) Great UI start! The only grip would be implementation of a map or something, to know where you have gone or not. I am alright in maze like situations, but I know a few of my friends who would like this who can get lost in a hallway in a game. You could theme it as a sonar map, which would give that sonar sound more reason to be there.
3) Probably put the 'first' fragement closer to the note about it? I didn't realize how to use the items (as in they are automatically used if they touch the thing); and that slowed down my gameplay as I skipped multiple fragements not know what they were or how to collect them.

Was pretty fun when I found out how to play properly though!

I been doing that, but seems it isn't working as intended for me. I wonder if it is something based on my computer settings or not.

How do you get past level 1? like, I can't do a small jump to not bump head on black bar.
