Hello, the game is still very much in development! We are currently very focused on development and are therefor not pushing any updates to itch.io(might change in the future). If you want to keep up to date with our development you can join our discord where we hang out daily https://discord.gg/XYt2AFK

Hi,

Thank you for letting us know!

We are currently preparing for a new build. Hopefully this will solve the issue. We hope to have it out later this evening.

If the error persists after that please let us know and we'll try to fix it as fast as we can.

Stay tuned! :)

Was this while walking around or riding the snowmobile? We'd be really happy if you could give us some more information.

We're trying to get on top of the bugs as they appear, we hope you have the patience to stick around and help us make the game great! :)

Hi Techwolf38.

.rar is a compressed filetype which requires unpacking software to open.

WinZip, Winrar and 7-Zip are some of the tools able to open and extract .rar files.

The installation steps are as following.

1. Install your unpacking software of choice ( I prefer 7-zip).

2. Right click the .rar file you wish to open.

3. In the dropdown menu you should have an option that say "extract to folder" or "extract to here" if you use 7-zip there might be an additional menu called "7-zip"

4. Open the new folder an run the .exe inside

We are looking to replace the .rar format in the future. Sorry for the confusion!

Hope you enjoy :D

Hi,

The download is a .rar file.

To open a .rar file you need a program like 7-zip, win-rar or winzip.

I would recommend 7-zip since it is a free open source program. See the image below how to use it.

Once you have installed one of the above: you can right click on the game file and you should see an option to "extract here" or "extract to folder". Select one of those.

Now you should have a new folder with the unpacked game. Open the folder and press the exe inside.

If you encounter any more issues with launching the game, send us a message! :)

Hey, sorry to hear there are issues with the download. We are trying to replicate it but we don't encounter any errors on our end 😕

My recommendation is to wait a couple of minutes and try again.

Please update us if the issue solves itself. Otherwise please send us a new message.

We had some issues uploading the latest patch to itch.io that's why we are currently hosting on drive and dropbox.  We hope to resolve it soon!

That sounds really weird. I don't have a computer in front of me at the moment but we will look into it in the morning.

Maybe trying an alternate unpacking program can solve this issue in the meantime.

Sorry to hear it's not working.

Hope you enjoy Outpost Glacier! We are still in very early alpha, and would appreciate any feedback you feel like sharing.

Hi MelanieFS,

Sorry to hear you are having performance issues. We are working on improving performance where we can as many of the environmental effects are quite graphics and CPU intensive. We will do our best to make the game as performant as possible and we hope you will get the chance to play it without any hickups in the future.

Also a big thank you for notifying us about motion blur. We will make sure to add an option to enable/disable it as soon as possible! We understand that it's something many players don't like. It sometimes happens that we overlook simple things like that and we greatly appreciate when you bring them to our attention.

/Alfred

Please tell us what you would like to see in Outpost Glacier.

We have a lot in store for the future but we also want to know what you would like to see in the versions to come!

Please share your ideas with us and the community.

Hello Storm Cottage,

Sad to hear the game is not working for you :(

We have tried to download the file on multiple PCs since reading about your issue but have not experienced any corrupt files making us believe the error might be something unrelated to the download file.

Common causes for file corruption are:

  • Faulty or damaged harddrive.
  • Faulty RAM unable to load the file into the primary memory.
  • Poor internet connection causing package loss.(very uncommon when downloading from a file host)
  • Temporary issues with the file hosting service - If this is the case all that can be done is to wait for a couple of hours and re-download the game at a later time.

Are you experiencing any errors downloading other files of similar size?

We would recommend you try to download the game again. If the same issue keeps popping up please contact us on OutpostGlacier@gmail.com and we will try to get to the bottom of what causes the issue.

We are currently working on bug fixes and are planning to release an update later today which could possibly fix your issues.

Best Regards.
Alfred

Hey Mister!

I know I'm speaking for all of us when I say that we love the kind words!

We all wish we could have brought you a bug free experience, but as most people have experienced is usually not the case in game development. It is hard to overstate how important it is and how much we appreciate you sharing the bugs you find with us developers. I do hope we will be able to resolve some of the bugs soon.

So, a big thanks to both you and Queen Faith for pointing them out!

At the end of the day seeing you enjoy the experience is the reason we are game developers.

Hope you'll enjoy our future projects and games!

/Best regards, Alfred!
