Game Development industry in 2024

What do you think?

No matter how we play games, the game  engine industry is affecting every aspect of game development culture. Sit back and relax as we dive into the nutshell of game development industry in 2024!

Uotsab Chakma

Red Army is an under development military simulation video game. Since it focuses on realism, things must be accurate.

Accuracy:

So I've been working on poses today. You can see I am using a military image as reference.

On here, the hip stays left of imaginary line. Legs are faces opposite of each other.

The head is near weapon due to aiming. The aiming is not precised since I'll use IK-Rig to realistically aim from first person view.

Later I fixed stomach alignment with the ground. Which was a mistake in first two pics and fixed them after capturing that.

I hope this is entertaining enough XD

Good luck everybody!!! Stay in touch:

I might had joined if it was a serious project. Tell a bit about the game maybe, I may have been interested or not.

I am a Unity C# programmer.

Edit:

He's looking for UE programmer, so I can't join it.

Actually I don't think I am for DRM.

It's just for a check if user is a real user who has itch.io account. If he is a real itch.io user, than get his user name and ask itch.io if user with that name had legally bought the game. The game will start only if itch.io responses okay. Is that DRM bro lol

AAA games are not always hackable. I found COD MW 2020 isn't hackable. It has a strong checker that checks if player really bought their games legally.

I am not so strong with two arms only. But I leave this to itch.io api to check player ownership. Or maybe as previous response said about OAuth to use, which maybe better I guess. I'll research more ways out.

Let me see if I OAuth is better...

Sorry for my confusing sentences I usually create most of the time.

https://itch.io/api/1/KEY/game/GAME_ID/download_keys looks like this thing is the best option. Okay, if I own a itch.io game, it will generate a download key for the player. (1) How is it's response if player owns the game?

But now if I send this - https://itch.io/api/1/KEY/game/GAME_ID/download_keys http request from my game, user may always see error:{ invalid } . Because itch.io doesn't knows who is the user, as he/she isn't logged in inside my game. But what I want is now get user logged in my game and than check his name from log in information. And than I want to check if he bought my game by sending http request to itch.io.

Now my problem with this method is how to do a login check with itch.io. So if it's the real itch.io user, than the game continues to check if that user bought the game. If he has the key, than game starts. (2) Is there a login system of itch.io to put it in my C# game ?

(3Do you think OAuth may be better? I checked it a bit before. But itch.io API would also be easier than OAuth. As I expect player is using itch.io apps. But (4) recommend me your opinion, should I do with the login thing or look for OAuth ...

Also, thanks for your timely previous response, I thought none would answer anything.

Sorry if I confused you guys again  😅

I found out that itch.io is missing app authorization to find out if users own the games actually. What I want is to find out if players own my game. And if so, they can play the game. itch.io is missing that thing, so it's easy to get pirated for our itch.io games. Only user names may not the real key owner, so it may require passwords.

[A very similar old topic with no answers]

My theory that I want to solve this is by using this page. Steps would be:

  1. Login User with itch.io account inside my game with password. Without passwords, people may enter a real user key, the key owner isn't him maybe. Password confirms it as real key owner.
  2. From login information, if login was successful, take user name (USER_NAME), global game key (KEY) and request : " GET USER_NAMEhttps://itch.io/api/1/KEY/me "
  3. If KEY matches response than start/continue the game.

I don't find a way to get player logged in the game with itch.io account with passwords, nor it's completely secured.

Did you guys found any ways to check if a user owns the itch.io game? If you do, your help would be greatful for me and for anybody coming here in future. I really need help...

Thanks in advance!

Uh, I am using NVidia, not AMD.

Using F@ckVdia 730, the worst GPU ever...

But I still think I can run some small projects like this. I can play games like Offworld (From Epic Givaways) okay. Which of course recommends me to update the driver.

Is the material maker using Godot 4? That can be another reason if yes.

Man, it really crashes. By maybe 80%+ loading.

I am making a 3D racing game with variety of cars and maps in Unity Engine.

Name is "Speed Demon". It will have 12 cars to ride on 15+ maps. Compete with the opponents and leave them in dust while you go to compete beast racers!

"Devlog - 3" status

  • 2 maps added
  • 12 cars completed
  • Optimized
  • LODs
  • Bug fixes
  • Vehicle selection menu
  • Map selection menu

Follow the game itch.io, twitter and youtube

Next Devlog is going to come a bit lately, but is coming...! Stay tuned!!!

I think characters will be fine too!

I wonder why Dani had taking 47 years to make 'Karlson'. I don't even think he's making the game anymore.......

Me:

Hello I'm Uotsab. I'm a UE4 developer (But, once I was Unity developer). Am a person, who wants to make games and give them away for free. Because I really, really like to see people having fun playing my games, like people enjoy other's games. It's where I like to be good game developer. I don't know my development quality of games, but I think this is - https://uotsab-chakma.itch.io/truck-challenge the last best game I've did best on (Though it was a Unity game). I know it isn't the #1 game out there, but, you know, it was, along my road! Whatever, I've always wanted to make a game that'll attract people, free of course. I've been gaining experience on game development for a long for it and I think I'm on this time to start making my large projects. So it's what I'm now thinking I would start now, hoping to achieve my dream.

What's the game is:

So the game now I'll want to make and givaway to public, am hoping to be a free Arma but larger world, more realistic military simulation, more realistic combat situations, experience in UE4. From what I guess, I should be doing this. I know it'll be a bit of hard, but it's very possible to make this kinds of projects nowadays, it's what people made all days. And if I've finally made this game, people won't have to pay to experience  tactical military. And again, I know it's hard to achieve this, one also, photorealism, I want it! Haaaaa!!!! XD whatever, using Quixel megascan, really solves the photorealism. Photo-realism is not my very big one to target. I just want to make a better Arma game which is free. If I'm able do it,,, I don't know, it should make people have fun without paying their hard-worked money on Arma!

Progress:

I've planned the road map. The game will be finished with 6 stages. I've also developed the movement with animations and shooting logic. It's being in stage 1 of the development. Look the screenshot, hm...., I don't know how you feel these like, but I'm pretty proud with this so far!

(You may see bugs, which are easily fixable. And this is just test environment, so it'll not be in released game levels. After developing all moving and shooting mechanics, stage 1 of roadmap will be complete!)

Who I want:

This kinds of challenges, yep, I would like to take and sacrifice my works on making people have free fun, it's what I love to see! Now I also want some people who is joining me on creator army, we'll start things up slowly. And I'll find more people by time, I know, there're always peoples to join with these adventures to team up. I'll do programming and general development. If you're interested you can have knowledge on:

1. 3D Artist

2. 3D Rig and Animation

3. General UE4 developer, though I can do this, you can join with this

4. Audio Composer

Knowing more than one of these are welcome! You can reply with your discord id. If you think it's not safe, than feel free to ask my discord id. I'm not giving these right now for some reasons. Just ask me if you need mine.

Though I've said, you'll work on this game for free, I'm actually going to fifty-fifty share for hard work of you guys, share from our earning donations from our future heartful community...

So, If you're interested, give me your discord id, we'll meet there, we'll slowly start the development, to make a great free tactical game. It'll be a great outcome at last, yeah, I'm waiting!!!

Edit:

my discord uotsab#5918

I would like to hire you on my next project. But I don't know how can we work together. I can develop games, specialy I can programme with GDScript or C#. But now thinking about crediting. I yet don't have VISA. For story telling I'd need you. I would like to keep contact with you (In discord or facebook). Can you compose audio?

https://uotsab-chakma.itch.io/truck-challenge

Hi, I'm Uotsab Chakma!

'Truck Challenge' is a 3D android game made by me! Goal is to move the truck to a place with the boxes by which the player will win. There are 5 trucks and 20 maps. Play, it's free!

The game jam should fit in one room. My game is also a game which is just in one room. I think, you thought my game has two rooms, one for Unity logo, another is for my main game. But actually, every free Unity game has logo of 'made with Unity'. That's not a developer's choice. Unity developers just putted it for every unity users. But that room is not counted. So if that room is not counted, the only room for the game is the main game. I don't know is Unity logo is your confusion. The theme is also was optional of this game jam. Didn't answered your question? Tell me why you think this game dosen't matches with my game jam. I'll try my best to answer.

Your game is not bad, but I felt difficult at first about the game. An example is the jump button. I thought w or up  arrow key is the jump button. But I found space is the jump button. I actually felt hard to play the game until finish. So I didn't played the game until finish. Not a bad game in one room though.

Who knows, maybe he think there are peoples who joined in the project didn't finished their games and maybe to let them finish their project, the hoster of the jam gived more time to finish their project.

Yes I know, I didn't got time to make it from easy to harder by the increasing of score. So I just choosed to make it hard to play. Don't know how to make normal difficulity. I tried to not make it too much hard. Actually controls are too hard I think, sorry, I made this game for a jam, so I got limited time to make it. So I wasn't able to make it balanced. But I'm sure the game is not bad at all. Thanks for writting something about my game!

Yes, I also want keyboard control!

I actually don't know. I don't remember what I did. But that day, suddenly the game was got uploaded. That's all I remember!

I made a top-down car game using Godot game engine. This game is a game I uploaded actually for the guys who watched the making of this game on youtube and want to play it for a test. Interested to watch how did I maked this game? So watch this tutorial -

about everything that I programmed or used assets to make this game!

Download the game on here!- https://uotsab-chakma.itch.io/top-down-car-game

Sorry these all links take me to a blank page. If you can open the page please copy and paste the names of the developers. Next I'll contact them.

I think opera mini don't have the ability to open the page. I use that browser.

I have finally developed the high score thing! But now I can't upload the update. It saws me that there was a problem during uploading. It also says contact support.

It would be better if you can explain me what tag you are talking about.

(1 edit)

I forgot itch.io's email address. Do anyone know their email address? Is that itch.io@itch.io? I need because I can't contact with the contact support option with them. I can't upload my game So I need them to talk!

The help button has the instactions on the new version of the game, so you'll understand how to control the player!

I'm glad that you found this game cool! But I'll still need some updates like adding a score label and a high score window. Suddenly, I had a problem with the high score window, it dosen't works! But I'll try to fix it as soon I can and when I'll solve it I'll upload that next version 1.1 of flappy bird which wiill contain more feature. Just please wait until I develop it!

Ok, I'm trying to do them all!

My games are absolutely free! My decision is not to make money. Of course I haven't maded donate in any game yet but if I start donating option you guys can donate me. So I'll be able to make more interesting games for you guys!

Actually, I searched on search bar and there are many flappy bird game made by different kinds of guys. So I thought making a flappy bird game is allowed by everybody.

Can I change my game's name and get ride of that problem?

I finally found my best game engine. That is godot, little in size, but containing many features. By the way thanks to helping me on ID tech 3 getting site.

Play this simple "Flappy Bird" game That I've made using godot-

https://uotsab-chakma.itch.io/flappy-bird

I need 2D arts which I can use to my games. Do anyone know a site where 2D arts uploaded and anyone can use them for games?

I am updating a game, that is "Flappy Bird". Are anyone uploaded flappy bird sounds and musics on itch.io?

My first game was made with visual studio basic, as always I developed it myself. It was a space shooting game. Not was a fun game. I even don't no about a site like itch.io where I can upload games. So I don't understood that time where to upload my games. But now if I need to upload a game so I upload it on itch.io!

Sorry, I have very old computer, so I can't work with 3D. Think I need to change my GPU or install a new OpenGL 3.3 version.

Okay, no problem I'll upload a video about that on my you tube channel.

Bro, I'm happy that I've now suddenly abled to upload the game flappy bird! You can try playing this game here - "https://uotsab-chakma.itch.io/flappy-bird"
