What's been bugging me more about this mechanic is that it's SO HARD to find out the "mysterious reason" in-game :( like, I've been playing long enough that I've (tentatively) figured out that 30 points up/down is usually due to dating (this one I'm not as sure of) while 10 points down usually means bullying (this one is 100%), but even when I have girls with the "paranoid" character trait and max friendship/influence with 10+ idols NOBODY TELLS ME ANYTHING. At least for bullying, there used to occasionally be incidents where you could find out organically (the shouting match incident is the one I most remember, where you can eventually arrange a counseling session and find out that x is bullying y), but that hasn't occurred for me since the story update. Now I have to ask every possible suspect who they're friends with, which unlocks the basics of their whole relationship chart, then find out who has a "bullies" tab and just move the culprit somewhere else, or else move the victim to a sister group and never figure out the culprit. Relationships only get revealed if you gossip with certain girls, and the relationships change so often that it barely matters. It's driving me insane!!

Now playing through the newest update - during the Nation of Idols arc, when I was supposed to have one girl supporting us staying in the show, it showed a blank white box on the screen and no name in the dialogue box. Later, Fujimoto came to my office and referenced the girl who quit, but he used the wrong name and referred to a girl who's still in the group.
The rival's route is really bugged, too - I've had to use the f7 debugger thing a few times because the next part of the story wouldn't trigger after I completed the task.
Something interesting as I was playing through, but I'm just now updating to the new version so not sure how much is still valid - it seems like when I make major decisions (whether to stay with the show or not, the route to go with, etc) it somehow changes which one I went with partway through. For example, I chose to pull out of the show - at first everything was normal, but then a few days after the immediate effects of that choice, I met with my rival and she started talking about how I'd "changed the narrative" and I was confused but kind of went along with it. Then a day or two later, the girl who had encouraged me to pull out left the group, while the girl who'd wanted us to stay stuck around. I eventually chose Fujimoto's route (had also qualified for Aya's), but barely heard from Fujimoto after that, and the end credits scene included a cute drawing of me and Aya, so I'm assuming something similar happened there. The task to lock into Aya's route never disappeared after I chose Fujimoto's, either.
EDIT: NVM, seeing that at least the first time that happened was a known issue that's been fixed. Not sure if the same for the second, but figured I'd leave this up just in case.
This! I've been wishing for the possibility of double centers, too, and just having alternate formations would be really cool! Not sure what would be a reasonable upper limit on how many idols to have in one single, but 15 feels a little small later in the game.
As for the election, I'd also personally like to add a potential incentive to it by having the winning members be the lineup for a single! It would make it more of a worthwhile gamble to rig the elections too. It would be cool to increase the limit based on that (maybe you could choose the limit based on the formations you'd unlocked or something?)
I've been struggling with this too! I remember when it happened in a previous version i gave the bullied idol a LOT of contracts, to the point of neglecting everyone else - someone inevitably got mad at her, and when things escalated, I got the option to refer them to counseling and then find out that that person was bullying her. That hasn't worked so far in the new update though :( she used to be so popular and now she has no friends...
Started a new game with this update (normal difficulty, simple graphics, nothing fancy) and discovered that I can no longer hold any auditions while on double speed, either by the shortcut keys or by going through the regular menu, or any auditions above Local at all. The game exits normally when I close out of it (no "Not Responding" like I get when it actually freezes) but it just stays stuck on the blurry audition screen.
EDIT: Seems like the one successful attempt at a Local audition was a fluke, as I can no longer get that to work even on the lowest graphics level. Game's officially unplayable for me.
Not sure if this is just something that's planned to be added later, but I really wish there was a way to reliably increase mental stamina when it gets low, before they become depressed. Physical stamina has the spa treatment option, but there seems to be nothing for mental stamina except cancelling everything they're involved in (if you catch it in time, which is usually tough to do unless you don't have any of the screens open) or just putting them on hiatus and accepting the losses. It'd be nice if there was a similar option to the spa treatment (maybe a trip to the counselor? or just a day off? lol) or if the doctors could have an additional function (therapy/talk sessions for the psychology-focused ones and something like health classes/physical therapy for the physical ones).
On the same line of thought, are the variety show proposals supposed to take mental stamina instead of physical? It doesn't say so in-game that I can tell, and that was my downfall a couple of times until I figured it out and just stopped accepting variety show jobs. Now that I maxed out the producer's variety show stat, it usually takes over 100 stamina, which is enough to instantly depress an idol. Very frustrating.
