Hello!
Yes, it was broken, because I had the outdated version of the demo on Itch. Sorry! I've changed the file to the version where this issue should be fixed.
Pretty cool; I like the idea and the controls are quite smooth.
Some complaints/suggestions:
1. You're archiving and shipping your entire project folder. In fact, only the .exe file is needed to run your project (as long as the .pck is integrated into it), so you should only put that in the archive (and probably a license file for Godot: https://godotengine.org/license/)
2. Didn't find a way to enable fullscreen. Since the game is pixel-art, maximizing the window results in a non-integer scaling ratio, because window decorations take up space, too. In other words, your pixels become blurry because of no fullscreen. More generally, an options menu would make the user experience much better.
3. The idea for high jumps when running is interesting, but there is unfortunately almost no reason to not just hold shift for the entire duration of the game, which makes the mechanic irrelevant. In addition, you can start and stop sprinting while mid-air, which, in my opinion, doesn't feel natural.
Overall, good job!
Thanks for the feedback!
The game has had a persistent sensitivity setting from the first version in the control tab in the settings - maybe you missed it? Let me know if it's not working as intended.
The performance is sub-optimal, I agree, but in my tests it has generally been playable on a 1050Ti. I have quickly made some performance improvements and posted the updated version just now, but I will try to take a closer look as well soon. Check out the current version, and let me know me if the problems persist. (if they do, please share more details - framerate (F3 during a run to show) with shadows on and off, your CPU and RAM)
The Christmas Creature is a short humorous Christmas themed horror game. The gameplay loop consists of preparing your neighbors' presents by mixing ingredients together and going out into the hallway to deliver it to them! However, you have a CJM - Christmas joy meter, that slowly runs out making you more susceptible to onslaught from the ill-wishers dwelling in the hallway.
The game features multiple difficulty modes and the average play session is several minutes long. Most mechanics are explained by the notice board in the safe room, but some are left to be discovered by the player.
