Thanks!

No worries! Hope you like it!

Thank you!

Thanks so much!

I struggled a bit with deciding the keybinds, but I’m glad you felt like they stayed more or less consistent!

Thanks for playing!

Thanks so much for your feedback!
The $8,000 is actually in reference to the average chemotherapy monthly cost, not the tuition.
I wish my tuition irl was that cheap!

Thanks again for playing! :)

Thank you!

Sorry to hear that, which platform were you on?

The web build is kinda weird sometimes, if you felt like giving it another chance the native builds are 100% working. Thanks either way!

I really liked this game! It's fresh, has a cohesive visual style, good sound and audio design, and a unique gameplay mechanic.

The main menu is a really nice touch (although probably not great for accessibility), I like hitting the ball to get to the different selections.

Turning this concept into a full game could be really rewarding, probably just needs some clever level/puzzle design and some new features to throw into the levels.

Wow, this might be my favorite game I've played so far.

Well done!

Cool idea, and cute artstyle!

2D top down horror game, it should run fine for you! I'll check yours out now

Let me know what you think!

I walked around for a few minutes but couldn't find anything to interact with or fight, or any exits. Overall, I think the visual style is cool and it could be promising if you kept working on this in the future!

Good job!

I like the idea, and I can definitely see what you are getting at here.

If you decide to keep going with this, this is definitely the type of game that would excel with a banger soundtrack and really satisfying attack sounds for each weapon.

Good work!

No worries! It's a jam and I figured it out pretty quickly.

Nice work!!

Cool aesthetic, there could be something here if you turned it into a full game where things start to happen based off of the words that you create

Exurb1a referece!!

Thank you so much!

Thank you!

I had some issues with the controls on the web version, but overall I love the style. Its super unique and pleasant to look at, it would be awesome to see a full game made with the watercolor charcoal pencil type look.

I only had time to get through one ending, but the amount of effort that went into the art is impressive. I also really like the music and I think it fits the tone super well. Very cool concept and execution, good job!

Awesome work, very cool to see it has been built on a custom engine.

I would have liked to have seen the controls on screen somewhere. Since it's Z to select and there is a bomb you can drop with X which I wasnt aware of.

I just gave it a shot, I'm not very good at bullet hell though lol. I'll have to take a look at how you wrap SDL_Mixer as I'm using it in my engine as well but I have some issues when building for web.

Awesome stuff, thanks for sharing!

Hey guys, congrats to all the finishers!

If your submission was made on a custom engine please post it in this thread as I'd love to take a look! (especially if it's open sourced)

Here is my submission, made on an engine I've been working on for around a year: https://itch.io/jam/acerola-jam-0/rate/2569177

I really like your cover art! I saw you posting it in discord a couple of times and it came out great

A little bit non-traditional but here: https://itch.io/jam/acerola-jam-0/rate/2569177

I'll have to check flower factory out later, I really like the point and click idea!

Thank you! If I had more time I planned on emphasizing the gradual monstrification more with increasingly chaotic keybinds.

Let's be real with ourselves, there are plenty of everyday tools that speed up tasks, like image background removers, that utilize AI.
Excluding every single AI-powered piece of tooling because of a personal bias doesn't feel gratifying, even if you insist that the motivation is to drive individual development and growth.
You would be doing people more favors by allowing them to stretch their abilities with the assistance of tools that they would normally be able to use freely.

That said, it's not my jam, so obviously these are the rules that must be followed.

The no AI rule started out pretty understandable, but now it feels like a personal bias that had to be extended towards EVERYTHING that uses any kind of ML just to rationalize the decision in the first place
