Middle click for new tab doesn't work any more.

Until recently it was possible to open a game-page in a new tab simply by middle clicking it, but now this always results in the game-page being loaded in the active tab. (right-click and clicking on "open in new tab" still works, but I'd like to have the easier option of middle clicking back)

Still works for me. Could you link a specific page where that happens?

I tried on that page, middle clicked on multiple games, and opened in a new tab.

What browser and operating system are you using? Is the middle click working on other sites?

I'm using the itch app on windows.

Ah, should have mentioned it was the app. Unfortunately I’m not very familiar with it.

I can confirm on version 25.4.0 the middle click is not opening new tabs. I’m not sure if that’s intentional or not.

I posted this in the Itch App section, so it should have been obvious

Hey SkyCharger,

I found an options in the preferences that says

[ ] Enable tabs

When I enabled that, I could make tabs again. Maybe this will solve your issue?

If that was the issue, the right-click thing wouldn't work either.

I confirm middle click failing to open in new tab on Linux Ubuntu 22.04, even after enabling Enable tabs (it opens in current tab, which is worse than not doing anything at all because you may lose form content). Right-click > Open in new tab works though.

I often write some review post, check info on the game in a different tab, and finish writing the post. But since middle click failed it replaced the current tab, and when I went back my post draft was lost… This only happens in the itch app which seems unable to save form content. In a browser like Chrome, pressing Back restores the previous page and form content. So it’s even more important in the itch app.

For now, I’ll make sure to review things as much as possible in the browser, and use right-click > Open in a new tab when I really need multi-tab in itch app.

Can confirm that this still happens (Windows 11 23H2) Ctrl-clicking doesn’t work either, although as komehara pointed out right-clicking works on links.
