Hi, ive always wanted to create video games. Ive decided id start now, but I dont know what program to use. Thing is I could use Unity but my computer is kinda crap so idk what to do. Should i save up money to buy better parts? or is there another program to make games?

If you're on a budget you can put Godot on your existing laptop. Keep in mind too that engines like Unity and  Unreal use up a LOT of hard drive space (relatively speaking).

What matters more than picking a game engine or programming language is getting started and sticking with it consistently.

If you're new into game development & its mechanics (like me) I totally recommend Construct 3 for baby steps. You can basically "click out" whole simple game (check my games if you want - I've made them in the past 2 weeks in free time - Construct is THAT simple (but at the same time, don't expect much from it as well))

If you want a low-resources solution, and your primary goal is learning, you could always try C++ with a library like SDL.

This is just programming though, no GUI involved, but it’s an amazing learning experience, and can give you a massive variety of features, which might not be available to certain tools/engines.
