Hello! After getting to think about my game for a bit more, I have finally came to the conclusion on what type of game I want to make! Check it out below.
--- 'The Labyrinth' ---
Gameplay inspiration: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, with some sprinkles of the Disgaea series for flair. Maybe some elements that make it feel more unique. I'd definitely need some kind of ideas guy for this, but I want the general feel to be similar to the Mystery Dungeon series.
Dungeons in this game are called "Labyrinths". They are completely randomized just like PMD's dungeons. We will need a huge variety of labyrinth appearances so the world will truly pop. Recruitment works similarly, but how this feature works is still under the works.
Artstyle direction: Definitely trying to go for something similar to Disgaea, but with it's own uniqueness to it. I want it to be colorful, yet pleasing to the eye. The main characters are from different elements; grass, water, and fire. I've already designed the first two protagonists, but the third one needs a design. Concept artists and character designers can help me with that. I have a friend who can help with concept art, as well as promotional artwork, so this position may be limited in numbers.
Plot: The basic idea is that three explorers are traveling on a quest to stop 'the pollution' from destroying their homes. On their way, greater threats are introduced. I do not want to spoil too much, so for anyone willing to sign up for a writer position, we can discuss it more on Discord! I plan on having this game be lore-heavy, so writers may need to assist eachother in creating something coherent.
There will be a multitude of species, similar to Pokemon, so the recruitment system will encourage experimenting with different units/characters besides the main 3. The main 3 will be required during story missions, though.
Music Direction: I'd totally love something that sounds similar to what Yousuke Yasui, +tek, Mr.Aysu, and Bo En makes. If you do not know any of those artists, study their music for reference on what I envision this game's music to sound like. If you think your way is better, I will not get in your way though, but I'd like some resemblance to that :)
Alternatively, I would not mind music that is stylistically similar to koronba's in more serious or sad events.
Roles: I'm currently satisfied with the number of programmers that I have so far, but I will update this post if it turns out that they need more help in developing the game. I need sprite artists who can make sprites that are similar to how they are in the PMD games, but I will settle for anything that is similar to it! Concept artists and character designers are also welcome, but as mentioned earlier, I may be a bit picky.
I also need writers for the story, dialogue, and other tid-bits of lore.
Currently, I am putting off on hiring voice actors until the game is around completion.
Pay: Unfortunately, as of right now, I am unable to pay anyone who volunteers in working for this project. I will find a way to compensate you all to the best of my ability.
