How to change configurations?

I managed to get things set up and can run it, but I wanted to change the config. I tried using the same method I did to make the shortcut, but it tells me this when I try to open the shortcut.

---------------------------
Error
---------------------------
Could not find start.ini, language.ini and/or options file in game directory: C:\Maelstrom\DirectX9_64bit\
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Also when I talk to regular people in the bar, (gamblers and drunks) I get a message saying "I can't open the dialog file Habitue_dialog.c for this character"

The shortcut to run Config for each mod is a little different than the shortcuts to run the game.  Instead of putting the path to the mod in the Start in: value of the shortcut property, add a space then the mod path to the end of Target: after the Config.exe.  Example:

Target:  C:\Maelstrom\gentlemen-of-fortune-maelstrom-engine\DirectX9_32bit\Config.exe "C:\Maelstrom\games\gentlemen-of-fortune-historical-eras-module-2"

The dialog problem might be an invalid language, so when you launch the Config successfully, select English and Save, then try the game.

Thank you, I got it to work but uh... the only language option is Russian, which is perplexing because I'm 99% sure I downloaded the English one?

Which game are you playing?  The others like COAS, GOF were originally "Russian" but really they meant English, LOL  We changed ERAS to say English, but just in case people were used to Russian=English, we left it available as an option.  It's also possible the script files for GOF 2.0 or 2.5 have some errors, because I just copied the original mods and made small changes.  If you tell me the specific game with that dialog problem, I will review it.

Ah I suppose I should have mentioned that initially. I'm playing GOF 2.5.

I installed the ERA II mod to test it and after setting up the config/exe files, it seems to be fine for the English, so I think it's a GOF 2.5 issue.

Found the problem and it will be fixed in the next GOF 2.5 update.  Thanks for informing there was a problem.

No problem! Thanks for helping me with making the config shortcut. :3

Oh yeah! You should also know that all of the street vendors were not offering any merchandise but bullets, gunpowder, and healing items. I dunno if that's on purpose or not, where as ERA's they offer all kinds of things.
