Hi all. Would like to find someone that either is a developer for games or someone/some people, to invest together into either my or your game ideas.

Abit about myself, I have been gaming since 1997 on a console called SEGA. Pretty much my whole life up till now I have spend more than half or even 3/4 of my time playing many games and generally learn about the game mechanics and such faster. It has always been in me that when I play games, I try to think the best possible way of being efficient. I enjoy mostly pvp games. It can be games like Dota, Ark, CSGO,mobile games,RPG,MMORPG,etc.

It has been a childhood dream to develop a game of my own and improve on it together with the community. I am hoping that by coming to this forum, I am able to develop or learn what it takes for a game to be developed.

Hi!

May I ask, what help are you offering?

Hello , my name is shirogane and im currently working as a game developer at ubisoft

I will be glad to help you if you want to develop games

The first thing I will suggest is to not learn an existing game engine like :unreal, godot and ect ,Instead you should try to build game from scratch to have a good foundation in developing games and it will be very easy if you want to use another game engine in the future because the core concepts are the same.

The first thing that you should learn is c++ ,learning this programming language will able you to have a good foundation for developing game and it will be much easier to learn other programming language when you have good foundation in c++

The second course i will recommend you to learn is this one, it will give you a good foundation of algorithm and data structures (c++) which will be very useful to undedstand a game design pattern

Then after you have a good foundation in c++ the next thing you should learn is the openGL library, you will learn the core concept of 3d/2d graphics rendering ,object translation, rotation, scaling, shading ,lighting and much more

You can learn about opengl here

Or

You can choose either one of those

Thank you for your reply. Really appreciate the background experience you had and also the guidance.

I think I wasnt clear when I mentioned I want to develop my own game.

I did took into consideration to learn coding but that is something I dont think I am able to do due to my personal strengths/weaknessess.

Base on your experience, If I were to hire game developers to make a game similiar to Sim but its multiplayer, What do you think the cost will be?

Deleted 3 years ago

The cost will be really expensive(its relative to how complex the game is) as you have to hire peoples such as:

-Network programmer

-3d modeller

-Rigger

-Game programmer

There are also alternative for example you can offer them a revenue share of your game which will be way more cheaper.

But If you dont have experience leading a team of game developer it will be super hard to start making a complex game like sims and with multiplayer feature in it since you will have a hard time figuring out  how to hire people that are qualified

The first thing i would recommend is try to work on a small game first rather than a big game ,for example try to work with 1 programmer and you as the game designer to work on a simple game ,you can try to make a really simple game for example tic tac toe so you will get the experience as you move on to more complex project

This is really good advice. I was also thinking of maybe getting a easier game done first before going big scale. thanks

Hello,i can be the composer ?

Hi Sathya321,

What would you contribute toward this partnership? What are your skills(strengths)?

ShiroganeX may be suggesting that you learn basic programming, however if you really desire to develop games then I would make recommendations contrary to what he/she suggested.

Learning an off the shelf game engine may be the best thing to do for an aspiring game developer. why? it will not only shorten the time it will take you to produce a meaningful demo but also impart crucial skills and experience to work in a team of developers.

A Custom game engine would only be understood by you, the creator and would essentially become worthless to everyone else without considerable efforts to learn it.

==========

Developing games is not easy(especially AAA Games), it often requires months of dedication and hardwork. Are you prepared to give up all thats necessary to achieve it? if not then I suggest you call it a passing whim and move on. In fact most aspiring game developers fail despite taking the risk, this is simply a statistical truth.

so the critical question is, do you simply like games or do you want to be a game developer?

btw i'm an indie game developer.

You made some valid points about knowing the basics.

I love playing games and would like to develop my game idea.
