I respectfully disagree. The rubber ball gun is becoming an underdog sympathizee for me. I'd rather it not be replaced by an apple-launcher.

Dude, what's cooler, a Worm Gun that shoots ACTUAL WORMS (Soon), or a Banana that shoots out the Banana Fruit?
I don't know about you, but I think Fish has the right idea for what to make relating to Ranged Weapons (And NOT making them all fruits and boring).
I'd rather have a watermelon grenade than having all ranged weapons replaced with fruits.
Honestly, I could see that being relatively awesome, because it would fit well with the nonsense and weirdness of Juice Galaxy.
