The Earth is under attack from the invading alien war machine! Take control of the Solar Blaster fighter ship and strike back!

Solar Blaster: Challenge Stage is an action packed space shooter where you’ve got 2 minutes to get the high score. Destroy as many enemy waves as you can within the time limit, collect power ups like rapid fire and spread shot and cause massive destruction with your 3 super bombs.

This game is based on the 2 minute ‘caravan’ shooter format from classic PC Engine games. I wanted to create a simple, fun shooter that was easy to pick up and enjoy and that players would want to keep coming back to in order to beat their high score.

Play the game for free in your browser or download the zip folder containing stand alone versions for Windows, Mac, Linux and Raspberry Pi. The stand alone versions support high score save and can also be played with controllers.

Take up the challenge and go for the high score!

Solar Blaster: Challenge Stage was created with Pico-8. This is my second game on itch.io and I hope you all enjoy it!

Hi,

I played your game and enjoy it. It's fun and weel made. Pico8 is awesome ! congratulation.

To help you improve your game i have 2 little things to say. Maybe you can had music ? And also, some ennemies a shooting at the player, but when this enemy is on the left or right, this is impossible to avoid for the player (almost happen to me once).

So yes, I enjoyed it :)

Thanks very much for playing the game and I'm really glad you are having fun with it! I need a bit more practice at creating audio in pico 8 before I could put music in the game, at the moment I think it's better that there's no music instead of there being bad music in it! I'm not sure which enemy you're referring to and the shots being impossible to avoid, but for the most part the enemies in most waves appear in the same positions each time, so if you play a few times and learn which enemies appear and when, you can learn where to place your ship to avoid a lot of the shots.

Thanks again for playing the game and leaving feedback, it's really appreciated!
