Hey guys, I'm new to selling asset packs here on itch.io and I have low views so far. I'd appreciate any feedback for the project page or any other suggestions to improve the chances of getting noticed. Here is the link: https://dj-cbass.itch.io/ice-boy-character-sprite

Thanks!

I haven't sold any packs, but I took a look at your page.

One suggestion would be to remove the tiled background to let the dev focus on the animation work. I think the color palette is good, and I didn't notice any typos.
If you haven't, perhaps blast your page around social media to drum up some interest. You can also contribute to OpenGameArt and other dev repository sites to help build up interest in your work.

I hope you get some sales!

Daniel

I took a look at your asset page, I didn’t notice any tiled background mentioned above, so I assume it was changed since this was posted. Here’s my feedback based on what I can see now:

  • The background is a single-color yellow. When selling assets, developers are often looking for someone with skills they can trust, before spending money. I’d suggest you create something that shows your skills as a background, but that is also subtle, as it’s a background after all.

  • Instead of having multiple single-frame pictures of the character, it would be better if you uploaded an animated gif, showing the character animating, even if you add a watermark on top. That way developers will now what they are buying.

  • The character’s pictures have a nice contrast with the background, but the blue on the button and the links looks quite rough on top of the yellow background.

From your description:

I was thinking of naming him Ice Boy or Ice Kid, but you can name him what you want!

  • In general I would suggest to “sell the fantasy” of your art. Instead of being unsure if your creation even has a name, be more confident. “This is ‘Ice Boy’ and he wields a sword to defend himself” would sound way better, at least in my opinion. Buyers will name the character whatever they want anyway, no need to mention that.

Running and and attack animations look best at around 16fps.

  • If I was looking for a pixel-art character, reading that line would worry me. Can I use this character on a 30fps game? What about a 60fps one?

You can use this asset pack for personal or commercial projects. Credit would be appreciated! You may not re-upload or resell this asset pack.

It is very good that you are stating the terms of your assets for buyers. My only suggestion there would be to pick a popular license that already does what you describe (allows use for personal/commercial project, but doesn’t allow reselling).

That’s some of the suggestions I could think of. These are all my personal opinions, feel free to interpret them as you like :)

Wow, thank you, I really appreciate these suggestions! I will work on it
