How difficult a puzzle game is my MuscleMan?

I've been developing this puzzle game for a while, and it's a mix of very mechanics-based puzzles with the boxes, and a treasure hunt of environmental puzzles.

Give it a try and all feedback is welcome!

I've mostly used the one spritesheet by Kenney, but I still appreciate readability feedback.

It plays very nicely, coming from someone who doesn’t play a lot of puzzle games.

I think the books placed around are a little too plentiful. It is much more satisfying when you are left to figure out things like how boxes can be swung over walls.

Yeah the tutorial is very tutorial-y. This game was initially for a puzzle game course in my uni, so I made a very typical tutorial as a practice :)

  • Nice game. I couldn’t solve it entirely though. The difficulty curve seems reasonable (at least until the part where I’m stuck now!)
  • The box swinging mechanic was good to play around with.
  • The mechanics-based puzzles appealed more to me than the environment ones, but that’s probably more to do with my preference.
  • On the Firefox browser, I didn’t get any background music, although I got the box movement sounds.
  • There are probably ways in which the player can get stuck (with some wrong moves of the heavy boxes, maybe?), with no way of winning the game. If so, it would be good to have some checkpoints to resume the game from, rather than having to start all over.
  • In many locations, there are quite a few more boxes than required. Is this intentional?
