is there anything i can store in  my cabin chest  them that i can benefit from?  i tried with books but their bonus only work when carrying in person

also playing as pirate, is there any way to make peace with other pirates?  too much often i see a sloop or tartane trying to engage me just to inmediately try to sail away

Not that I know. Unfortunately som skill enhancing items do not WAD anyway, like the repair enhancing statue.  Their effect was intentionally removed long ago for to me no apparent reason.

I`m totally with you(see one of my recent posts) on pirates accosting/attacking me being also a pirate as if I were not. Very bad for immersion and yes I know that some pirates were mortal enemies and some attacked everyone. Gentlemen of Fortune they were known as AFAIK. They are represented by Bold Privateers in game now but ordinary pirates should leave their collegues be.

Yeah i would understand if some fellow pirates were after my earned riches but all they end doing is just behaving like supply fleets and handing me their cargo xD.   they don't go too far  with 1-2 sloops/brigs   trying to attack my upgraded  war carrack and it's 4 ships escort . so i assume the units in map mode can't estimate the player  total power to at least leave me alone if i cant befriend them

OTOH, if they could do this estimate and leave you be everybody would be running from you most all the time. In mid-late game anyway.

I have noted on many occasions that weaker than me parties try to run away(or ransom themselves) from battle, sometimes even Bold Privateers(they only run mind you). The latter even occasionally display  instinct of self-preservation in harbour battles. This is an improvement from earlier behaviour.

Still, the simplest way to rectify that and increase immersion would be making common pirates neutral to pirate player. Even nicer would be to have a possibility to befriend them like the smugglers.

Sometimes you obtain items you may want later, or may want to give to some future officer/companion for either skill enhancements, or weapons.  It might become too heavy a load to carry them all, so you could store such things in your ship.  Of course if your ship sinks, and you are lucky enough to wash ashore, then it would be lost...but then there is also the option to bury it somewhere.
