They Shoudnt play them Your thoughts?

Depends entirely on the visual novel, I think. Obviously they shouldn't be playing ones rated above their actual age, but there's plenty of cute, wholesome fluffy ones out there that would be perfectly suited for them.

Not every VN is a rampant smut-fest, you know. : P

That makes about as much sense as saying that children shouldn't read picture books.  Because that's what visual novels are: picture books, on a computer.  (And yes, there are picture books, and visual novels, that are absolutely not suitable for children.)

First of all: Why is this thread not in the "General Discussion" section?

Secondly: There are good visual novels for kids. Your thoughts are too naughty if you really think that all visual novels contain adult content.

Finally: There should be no kids on itch at all. Kids are not supposed to have a bank account, and are not supposed to be able to buy games. If you are a parent, then it's your responsibility to keep in check what your kids are doing on the internet. It's not the fault of itch if you let your children register with a fake account and download adult games from itch to a hidden folder on your computer :P

Thanks for pointing that out. It must have slipped my mind. For what it's worth, minors 13 and older (or 16 and older in Europe) can access itch.io, but at that age a parent should probably still take responsibility for what they do online, and in any event they shouldn't have a card with which to buy games, so yes.
