More filtering and sorting options?

Hello.

Would it be possible to enhance the browseability of the store by adding more filtering and sorting options?

Considering what I observed in the store, those are some of my suggestions of what could be added:

  • Having, besides the AND search logic, the OR and NOT search logics as well
  • The user being able to blacklist specific games, tags and creators so he/she doesn't see related contents when browsing the store
  • Being able to remove certain tags, content creators and specific keywords from search, like, for example, how Google would do, e.g. "gameboy -tag-horror" (without quotation marks) to search all titles with "gameboy" in the name, but removing all projects that include the "horror" tag
  • More options such as sort/filter by price, discount and/or name
  • Expanding the filtering and sorting options to collections, the user's own library and the "Recommended for you" page (https://itch.io/library/recommendations)
  • Anything else I have missed?

Thank you for your time.

Also a way to filter/sort projects by their highest payment tier.

I suggested something similar in another thread but your set of suggestions is more concise and constructive. I second these suggestions.

Thanks! I'm glad it is useful!

I totally support this idea. As the number of games hosted on itch is continuously increasing, it's starting to get very hard to find the good stuff and ignore the bad stuff. (Unrelated to subjectively what may be considered bad and what may be considered good by the users perspective)

While the post is almost 2 years old, my points still stand, to the point I even got to learn how to use Ublock Origin's custom filtering and am trying to learn how to make user styles to make the platform minimally more usable.

We have plans to revamp the full search page, including sorting and filtering functionality seen on our regular browse page, but that will come at another time.

Well, there are plans to overhaul the system, maybe it even gets usefull for finding stuff. I am sceptical. For finding things, the developers have to release in a manner that is actually searchable. With tags, everyone has different opinions how to apply them and what they mean. So filtering with tags will be a case of your mileage will vary.

It bothered me too, so i build a Firefox addon for that

It can:

  • Load All Games: Dynamically loads all listed games on the current page.
  • Sort Games by Price: sort games by highest or lowest price.
  • Sort Games by Discount: Sort games by highest discount.
  • Sort Games by Number of Ratings: Sort by most or least ratings.
  • Export Game Data: Export the loaded game data into a CSV file.

It's available as:
