Finally finished updating my old marriage mod with some new features. Its now less buggy, offers more options and keeps better track of your family.

Download for vanilla S4P (requires the Strive-1.0d-Bugfix-V6b mod to work):

https://mega.nz/file/MFMEwLrA#m641ruFfltQcJ7gXlhLRagDHcgU7EVVCSl_6C_wXx7c

Download for Arics 1.7 and 1.8b (note that this doesnt contain the gender change option due compatibility reasons):

RELATIONS:

The new version of this mod adds a ton of new relations into the game. Instead of only showing parents and siblings, it might now also show grandparents, half-siling, inlaws, cousins and other. However, to keep things reasonable, some parts have been simplyfied, ie NPCs will usually only appear once in the list and only with their closest relationship.

If you look at an NPC, the desciption text should also mention now if they are related to you.

MARRIAGE:

The concept of marriage should need no explanation. However, unlike in reality, you can be wed to multiple people without issues.

Marry:

Person1 will be married to person2. If you enable the surname option, person1 will adopt person2s surname (even if is it empty). If you want person2 to have person1s surname, you need to switch person1 and 2. NOTE: Aside from the surname option, it makes no difference who is person1 or 2.

Divore:

Should be pretty obvious. NOTE: If you changed the surname during marriage, it will NOT revert to the old name. You would need a potion to rename the slave yourself (if you remember the old name).

Marriage trait:

Married characters get a new trait that lists all spouses. Its mostly for roleplaying, but it also gives a small relationship buff for these NPCs.

ADOPTION:

All adoptions have two options: 'close relatives' and 'retain the family ties'.

If you uncheck the first one, only the two persons selected are affected by an adoption. ie your siblings or children will not be affected. If you enable it, any person you addopt will also be considered a foster by your siblings (see below for more explanation).

If you uncheck 'retain the family ties', then ALL existing family relations for the adopted person are cleared. ie parent will be "Unknown" and all ties to siblings or children are removed. If you check it, the person will keep the connections and serve as 'bridge' between the families.

Adopt Child:

Person1 will be added as a foster child to person2. If you enabled the 'close relatives' option, ALL of person2s children will also be regarded as person1s foster siblings.

Adopt Parent:

Person1 will be added as a foster parent to person2. If you enabled the 'close relatives' option, ALL of person2s siblings will also be regarded as person1s foster children.

Adopt Sibling:

Person1 will be added as a parent to person2. If you enabled the extended family option, ALL of person2s siblings will also be regarded as person1s foster siblings.

GENDER:

Previous versions of the mod allowed the player to overwrite the gender/sex for NPCs by talking to them or change their own setting in the personal options. This has been changed, it is now a service of the slave guild and costs a bit of money (but otherwise works the same).

Updated to version 2.

No major changes, but a bugfix for children inheriting the Marriage trait. Just load the save game with v2 installed and it should sort itself out.

Next goal: Make a compatible version for Arics.

I can't open the game after installing this mods. Any solutions? Or did I do something wrong? I install the bug fix, close the game, run the game, I install this mods, close the game, now I can't run the game.

Hmm, your installation sounds correct.

What version were you using (vanilla or the Arics veersion)? And what other mods do you have installed?

vanilla v1.0d. I only have the bug fix installed. I'm new to this game and your mod appeal to me the most.

Assuming that you have the most recent version of this mod, my bet would be that you installed the bugfix mod, then uninstalled the bugfix mod when you installed the marriage mod, as that seems to produce the most errors on start. To fix it you will need to either delete your Strive program folder and extract a new copy, or copy the contents of the "backup" folder into the Strive program folder to restore the game to the backup (edit: note that if you use this method the mod system will incorrectly report that you still have mods applied, but that is of no further consequence). The mod system automatically restores the game to this backup state every time you apply a set of mods. So to install mods on top of the Bugfix mod you need to apply it once by itself and then apply it every time after that, otherwise it will be uninstalled.

Yeah that fix it. Thanks dude. I unselect the bugfix when I was installing this mod and that seems to uninstall the bugfix for some reason. I thought I have to install the mods individually. Now I install the bugfix, restart the game, select both the bugfix and the mods, apply and the game works fine. Thanks a lot dude.

Personally I really like the customization in strive, and this mod fulfilled one of the desires I had for the game, it seemed to me something necessary to improve the feeling of belonging and immersion, if you manage to make it compatible with Arics and if you add reactions such as dialogues, mental effects or events to different situations, I really don't know what else could be missing, English is not my main language, so I apologize if I don't make myself understood.

Added a DL for a Arics 1.7 compatible version.

how do I launch this? I've got it in the mod folder but it just isn't allowing me to select it in-game.

Make sure you have extracted the mod from the archive and start the game only after the mod is in place. If it still does not appear, then you likely have the mod in the wrong folder. Usually, you can use the "Open Mod Folder" button in the Mods menu to locate the correct folder.

This mod looks so interesting! I tried to install it on Arics, but where do I use the options to get married, etc.?

If it is installed correctly, the options should appear in the service section of the slavers guild.

Ah, thank you! I found it!

Both versions have been updated for better compatibility with existing savegames (a big thanks to Ankmairdor for his solution)

hola, disfruté este mod y me preguntaba, ¿seguirá funcionando con aric VER 1.8b?

Most likely not, but I plan to update the mod in the next week.

I have Arics 1.8b and it works with your mod fine for me

After checking the codes again, it seems the current mod version for Arics 1.7 also should work fine for Arics 1.8b!

hi, i tested the mod for aric, and apparently it completely overrides the '' strength'' of the first slave in the customization, specifically the '' perfect specimen '' (i didn't test others)

(1 edit)

This mod is not the cause of that problem; I have checked the code injection for the version of this mod compatible with Arics mod. While it does touch the same function as the one that assigns the traits for 'Perfect Specimen', there are no problems nor any overlap between the two sets of code. The source of your problem is most like Aric's mod itself as the most recent version is a buggy mess.

Though, I will add that the topic title still says v2, but v3 is currently available.

hi, I can guess that you are referring to the ''MarriageAndMore_arics1.7_v3.rar'' file mod that you can download now, it is this version that I used and I saw the problem, and yes, after deactivating it and trying a game without the ''MarriageAndMore_arics1.7'' mod, the slave appeared with the corresponding traits as 'Perfect Specimen'. PD: the only thing I see as a bug in the aric mod so far is related to the active research of the crystal.

Is there a limit to the number of people the MC can be married to?

(+1)

I dont think so.

Does this work with 1.8d?

No, it works with 1.0d, which is the current version of the game.

I think he meant the Aric version. And yes the aric's version works with 1.8d

Thank you! I should've specified that I meant Aric's version.

Is there a way to remove siblings relationship from two characters? Do I have to edit save file to do that? After downloading and applying this mod, I started new game, and when customizing starting slave, I set the relationship with starting slave to servant. But when the new game loaded, relationship with starting slave was set to siblings.  I tried starting new game with stranger relationship, and then with childhood friend relationship but it changed to siblings again.

The only way to change relative data  is editing the save file. The save file is JSON formatted text; there are online editors that make it easier to edit. You have to track down each person's data to get their IDs, then find those IDs in the "relativesdata" to change the correct data. It is safe to simply remove the IDs from the list of sibling.

There appears to be a line number mistake in ".../scripts/mainmenu.gd" of the mod folder.

<RemoveFrom 8 8>

should be

<RemoveFrom 11 11>

and

<AddTo 8>

should be

<AddTo 11>

Side note, the mod crashes if it is installed without the Bugfix mod installed as there seems to be a bug that prevents the version constant from being added to "globals.gd".

How do I marry someone?

At the slavers. Choose wich one of you character you want to marry to  wich character, spend some gold and done.

What about the starting slave?

You can put any char to anyone.
