Would it be possible to increase the uploading storage/file count limitation? or start the paying creator account for this functionality?

This idea is from my friend complain to me in our game making discord community, he/she is very confusing why itch.io doesn’t have some kinds of similar plan to support creator if their game is heavy.

For my opinion, I guess itch.io’s Web game function was designed based on lightly game, but browser’s also possible to playing the complex web game as its matures from 2013 or earlier. but at same time, I think it’s a kind of various channel make this platform get more support from creators.

I wonder any concern about this idea?

Hey there,

From similar questions that have been answered in the past, the idea is that big games provide a poor experience for users. Even if you have a strong computer that can handle and upload such games, you can easily have a big number of users with low-end systems, which will take a lot of time to load the game.

So even if there was a way to have a paid account and be allowed to upload bigger games, it wouldn’t solve the issue.

Having said that, it’s possible to contact support and ask them to increase the size limit of a project, but it’s mostly for games that are expected to do well.

Hope that helps!
