I downloaded Book2 linux version from here and it returns error when I open it. Downloaded it from an F95zone link and it works. 

The one from F95zone is version 1_0_8b, is it the same as from here?

And can you please check if the zip from here is correct?

Thanks, I'll have a look. The upload process for Itch.io is different (the app is > 5GB, and itch.io won't let me upload files larger than 4GB through their regular uploading mechanisms. 

Sadly I don't have a linux machine, but if you're willing to test I'll turn it around and see what I can do. 

Quick note; I'm pushing a new Linux update; it should be up in 30 mins or so. Let me know if that fixes the problem. Thx for letting me know!

I downloaded the new version (I hope, started a couple of hours after your post) and have the same problem.

Don't know which limitations itch.io has but if you can't get around them maybe it's easier to split the file (it's what people normally do when working with FAT32, for example). It's strange that this only happens with Linux...

If you need help testing just let me know!

I don't actually generate the ZIP file on Itch.io side; I use something called the itch.io Butler (https://itch.io/docs/butler/) which then does the upload in a delta-patch manner, similar to Steam's contentuploader.

It IS strange that it's only a problem on Itch.io, though.  Let me poke the itch.io team, and see if they've got any suggestions. What's the error message?

I don't actually have a detailed error message, only that there was an error opening the file (I could send you a printscreen but it would be in Portuguese so, probably, not very useful :) ).

Later today I will try via Steam and let you know the result.

Print screen would be better than nothing :) Without a hint at what's going wrong, google is not my friend :)

Update from my side: via steam all works because there's no compression in the download, so: no problem! :)

Direct translation: An error occurred when loading the file.

It happens when I click to open the zip file, I use Ubuntu with Gnome that has it's  own program to handle compressed files: https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/FileRoller .

I added 7zip, tried it, and it worked, so the problem is not from the file itself but from some incompatibility with FileRoller... Difficult problem, it can be from the file, from itch.io's Buttler, from FileRoller or even from my laptop, although I checked for updates and all is up to date.

My suggestion: don't worry to much unless someone else complains! ;)

Well, good to know it's not a problem on the build side. 

Have you tried using Itch.io's app? https://itch.io/app 
It might help fix the issues you're having, and again it supports auto-updating, so only what's changed gets affected.
