Damage for tools?

This game seems awesome, and I'm excited to try it out with my group!

... but  I know that sometime early in the first session, one of my players is going to try to kill something with a crowbar, a power drill, or a welding torch. :-D

What do you recommend for damage values on those items or other improvised weapons? Most "real" weapons seem to do 1-2 damage, should these be 1-1 instead perhaps? Or 1-2, but apply disadvantage to the attack?

Other fun-seeming improvised attacks not covered by the rules as written:

  • Attack with stimulant syringe
  • Ram with vehicle or drone
  • Unarmed attack, either untrained (disadvantage) or some kind of martial arts (normal) -- 1-2 damage?
  • Hit targets with thrust wash from jetpack
  • Paracord whip or garotte

Hey skeolan, thanks for the questions. I would use the information on page 8 under 'injury' as a guide (i.e. minor = 1, medium = 2-3 and major 4+).

Personally, using the examples you have given my 'rulings' would lean to:

  • Improvised weapons (i.e. tools/drills/crowbars) (1-1) no better than real weapons
  • Syringe/unarmed/garotte/jetpack wash (1-1) again no better than real weapons
  • Ramming with a drone (1-1) but a vehicle you might go (2, 3 or 4 depending on the size/speed of the vehicle)

Hope that helps.

Would love to hear of any play session reports (and feedback on the system aswell), all the best.

Cool thanks @nameless-designer, I'll try to post a report when we get a chance to try this out!

I did eventually notice that the stat-block for the "Tracker" droid has "Welding Tool (Close 1-2)" so that's covered at least! I'll follow your recommendations on the other rulings.
