Developer:

I'm BlackPanther416 and I'm a US-based coder/writer just getting started. This is my first project in Ren'Py, but I'm no stranger to Python or writing. I come from a background of ghostwriting and freelance contributions to creative works, including some non-adult video games. As a fan of many AVNs, I'm hoping to pair my technical and creative writing skills with a talented digital artist to tell compelling and entertaining lewd stories.

Looking for:
A talented digital artist to co-create an AVN, working title "Escape to Time". I'm a long-time freelance writer and programmer but *terrible* at creating visuals. I need someone to take the scripts I've written - understand some no-so-clearly written directions, have a lot of patience - and create some vivid renders. Any art genre is welcome. Hand-drawn art is fine as well.

Project:

The initial release of Escape to Time is 90% written (dialogue) and 15% coded. This collaboration should span several other projects currently in the concept stages.

Escape to Time is a linear playthrough game where choices impact your "vibe", which in turn changes the way characters and events play out. Set in both modern near-future times and the 17th-century era. Think back to the future and meets a kid in king Arthur's court, except the protagonist doesn't care about wrecking the space-time continuum. Let's hope that doesn't come back to bite MC in the ass. A sci-fi historical fiction genre harem game.

NOTE: This will require creating digital stills and animations depicting lewd scenes and consensual sexual acts. Do not apply if that bothers you.

Employment Type:
Co-founder, payment is 50% of revenue generated from all forms of fundraising (Patreon, SubscribeStar, itch.io sales, etc).

Work commitment:
I'm still employed full-time with a full roster of clients, so initially, I don't expect a full day of hours from the artist, either. In an ideal world, this collaboration becomes something we can both make a primary source of income, but until then, it's a fun side hustle. What you do with the rest of your time is up to you.

However, with any luck, this collaboration will turn into a long-term thing spanning several projects.

Preferred method of contact:
Reply below or reach out to BlackPanther416#1819 on Discord.

Job Description:
This is not a complete list, but generally covers most of the job:

  • Create digital renders and animations based on the direction of a written script.
  • Use character guides to generate models.
  • Design and create UI images.
  • Design and create game logos and splash screens.
  • Create animations using character models of varying lengths.
  • Collaborate with community members in Discord as required.
  • Create custom art at a pre-defined interval for Patreon/Subscribestar perks.

Additional comments:
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to make their mark in the AVN community with their art. I'm looking forward to collaborating with this future co-founder on several projects across a variety of genres. If you've ever wanted to dip your toes into a project or have equal input into where it goes, this is your chance. Get in on the ground floor, as they say. Come be the artistic ying to my writer's yang. Wait, that sounded better in my head...

Hey there, few questions regarding the kind of commission you're looking for.

To what extent are you willing to let a hand-drawn artist work on this project? Are you loose with how you want the style to be interpreted as long as it fits the vibe or are you strict on having 3D looking character works for the project?

Hey there, Leafeon. My biggest concern (fear?) with hand-drawn art is whether the artist bails on the project before completion. You can't replace hand-drawn content like you can something from Daz, Honey Select, etc. Honestly, the creativity and originality hand-drawn art adds to AVNs is a big perk, so long as the artist is in it for the long haul, I'd happily consider it. As for style, the artist has a lot of freedom to make the visual aspect their own. Definitely not stuck on only 3D art.

Thanks for clearing that up, I guess the only question I would have before asking if I could join your project is exactly how long-term you're thinking of working on the project, I doubt that'd be a problem if I did ask to join since I'll be having a lot of time on my hands for a good while anyway but I figured it would be good to ask just to be sure.

Honestly, I don't have an end date. Once this game is wrapped up I have the rough outlines for a few more I'd like to start working on. The only variable is how popular Project 1 ends up. If it's a flop, then there won't be much point in releasing another project. But if it's decently popular, why not keep building on a good thing? :) As I said in the post, it's a side hobby for now, but ideally, it earns enough of a support base to let me/future artist focus on these projects full-time.

Starting to catch drift of what you have in mind, reckon you'd be cool with talking through this a bit more via discord? Seems I've already taken up much of this thread's space with my questions. You seem pretty eager on doing justice to what you wanna create, I'm happy to discuss working with you and better decide if I'd be the right fit for what you want.

Absolutely, I'd be happy to keep chatting on Discord. You can find me at BlackPanther416#1819
