ERAS - Are Muskets Useable?

I looted a Musket from an enemy but I can't figure out how to use it. The equip button is enabled for it and the description classifies it as a Weapon. It just won't equip. 

Interesting that one of my officers equipped said Musket after giving it to him to hold. Curiously on his inventory screen it showed him still using pistol and sword. Also had a rough time getting him to unequip it.

Only some character models have the necessary animations to support carrying a musket.  Since you claim that the "Equip" button was enabled for your character, but it doesn't work, I checked the scripts and it looks like there may be an error in the function to determine eligibility.  Can you tell me the character you are playing?

Also, it may be better if you can send me a save file with that musket in inventory, because if an officer did equip it, but doesn't show the correct item equipped, that may be bugged too, so I will need to investigate an eligible character too.

In ERAS, once you give equipment to an officer, you don't get to decide whether they unequip it, so if you have a gun or sword or cuirass that you may want to use at some point, do not give it away.  They decide their equipment from their inventory and for guns, they will choose based on weighted factors of accuracy, damage output and reload speed.  If that calculation favors one gun over another, they will equip it and won't unequip unless they get another gun in their inventory that favors a different one.

Technically you could say I'm playing Beatrice, but not really since I ported Constance over from GOF 1.0 to ERAS who takes the place of Beatrice. She uses the same animation/model files as Beatrice so likely not an issue. I can send you Googledrive links to the save files but I'd prefer to PM you the links for reasons mentioned in the other post. 

You can unequip officers easily enough by commenting out the the following function. In GOF this was done simply by toggling it to true.

//SetNodeUsing("EXCHANGE_BUTTON" , bExchg);

But don't bother too much about it. I got kinda fed up with the game/mod. I put a lot of work into levelling my guys from scratch trying to min/max them. But then realized that the naval aspect in ERAS is not my thing and is every bit as disappointing as the character pacing/progression balancing. Especially as it relates to that stupid Parley system where ships can change sails mid-fight like it's a magical forcefield. If anything I'm going to back to GOF 1.0. While it is a shit-show on a technical level, it's simply a lot more fun to play. Even the ships look better in that version. Real world cabin spaces instead of a hundred clones with painted on windows. 

I'll still send you the saves if you need them for diagnostic purposes but don't do it on my account. If only Maelstrom worked with GOF 1.0/1.1. Anyway, really appreciate all the help. You're about the only person to give it on this whole journey.
