Steam Deck Experience

Enjoyed the game. Will likely pick up on Steam.

Would appreciate movement confirmation or option to undo movement. I found that clicks could sometimes work when attempting to click on cards and I ended up with a wasted turn.

Art style is excellent but the upgrades art, whilst good in itself, is completely incongruous with the overall aesthetic.

Managed to get this alpha running on my Steam Deck, using ProtonGE8.3. Controls are a bit of a pain to set up, not knowing what the intended controls are, but plays well once done. Doesn't seem to like the triggers as mouse clicks, but bumpers work fine.

Maxes out the GPU, which is unexpected, hitting around 60fps. I throttled the GPU, bringing it to 30fps to reduce fan noise and extend battery life. Reducing resolution from native 1280x800 isn't a great option, as text quickly becomes unreadable.

UI really needs to be scalable, as it is often hard to read rule definitions on the deck's screen, and my eyesight is good.  Some tooltip popups appear behind other screen elements (noticed this in the card removal section of the shop).

Mid-feedback update:
Something funky was going on. The tooltip for cards in hand were pixelated in the same way as the card art. At lower resolutions, they became unreadable. After trying 1024x768 (that was a throwback!) the text was no longer pixelated and matched the unit summary on right of screen font. Set resolution back to native and the font remained legible!

Thanks for your feedback and for taking the time to write this!

Agreed on clicks triggering movement, some safeties need to be implemented to not move when you click on UI elements such as cards or summon button.

Upgrades art is placeholder for now, so it'll get swapped out!

For the Steam Deck, for some reason the game only runs in Proton Experimental compatibility mode for me. Then once it's ran, so far I've found that the mouse + keyboard config + rebinding bumpers to Q and E (for camera rotation) worked the best. We have partial controller support but it's subpar for now so I'd advise against using it. Weirs that the triggers for clicking isn't working for you, what's happening ? On my side with the default keyboard + mouse configuration it immediately works (and triggers work for mouse clicks).

The game is still poorly optimized so it does make fans blow hard, also the pixelation shader is accounting for the resolution which makes the environment too pixelated at low resolutions (such as the SD's res). This will all get fixed soon, same as the cards resolution!

No worries!

I thought art may be placeholder, didn't want to assume.

I can't remember the steps I went through to install it now; though I'm sure I have a tab open somewhere... ProtonGE was fine and the Deck's built-in features for throttling did the job.

Trigger seemed to pick up the card but not properly resolve. As if the click didn't complete, or something.

Looking forward to more.
