Bugs / Mistakes — we'll try to fix them.

You guys really need to stop the view bobbing. I literally threw up due to motion sickness while playing this game.

could be a toggleable future maybe? so you don't have to deal with that?

Developer

ok, we'll add a toggle button for this setting

I have a few small nuisances that I'd like to address here (apart from grammar issues):  the flashing animation when entering a new area is hurting my eyes, maybe it should be slowed down as to not trigger anyone with photoleptic seizures. also as a suggestion maybe a Field of View (FoV) slider so we can adjust it? With how narrow it is, it's making me a bit sick. Otherwise this release seemed pretty okay for me, good luck on V5!

Developer

thanks, fixed flashing anim and added slider for FOV in v5

I can't even play the game unfortunately. Whenever I open the exe, I see a white pop-up for a brief moment and then the screen goes black, and the game never loads. I'm then forced to wait until the game stops responding so windows can close it or move to a different desktop and close it through the task manager. Tried redownloading to see if that might fix my problem, but no dice.

Developer

it's sad. can you give us info about your pc?

Sure. I'm running Windows 11 with an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, an RX 6700XT, and I have 32GB of RAM.

Developer

chad pc, hmm... we haven't encountered this problem yet. but if antivirus is enabled, then disable it and run the game
we'll try to make a special fixed version of the game for you. wait for it
by the way, what version of the game are you running?

(1 edit) (+1)

Just tried it with my antivirus disabled and I still couldn't get the game to run. I'm running the latest version, v4.1. If it helps, I previously played v2 on Windows 10 with no issues. I just went back and tried versions 2 and 3.1.1 and I have the same issue and the only major change I've made to my computer since then that I can recall is my update to Windows 11.

Developer(+1)

download v4.1.11.0 and v4.1.11.1 and try to run them. if it works, write what version it is
https://nonhumans.itch.io/hornienfeld

Neither worked. v4.1.11.1 Did the same thing as all the other versions and v4.1.11.0 just threw an error and didn't open at all.

sorry, apparently the game engine (love2d) doesn't work with amd and win11 :(
maybe in the next versions of the engine it will be fixed
we tried...

Updated my graphics card drivers and that seemed to fix the issue. Sorry for the hassle.

Yo wassup loved the game. Played about 40 mins today. This is just my cup of tea so far.

So issues along the way.

First off, attacking, my finger hurt while I was playing because of the sheer amount of times I had to press the attack button. Letting the player keep the button pressed to keep attacking would be a nice addition at least to the fast attack. In the same topic giving the sword attack a bit of a fake 3d feel so you can see the rough range of your attack would make combat a lot more comfortable, hell making the attacks of you and enemies be slower but hit harder for overall the same dps would also make the game feel better.

Second, at the scene where you have to escape the magical loop and go through this weird dimension following pixie, I died a few times while trying to follow her and avoid the things on the way and it didn´t feel like it was supposed to be a hard section, could you maybe make the path a bit wider or outline it better? Dunno. It didn´t feel right to die so many times on a mission to just walk forward. Also animations to bang the demonesses there before dying would be appreciated.

Third, options, the option for rebinding controls would be a nice addition.

And lastly... Language... I know you´re probably not a native... I´m not either, I speak spanish natively I get it... but... It´s real bad here.

Developer

thank you, wait for it all in v5
(grammar is slowly improving...)

Developer

does our grammar strongly influence your experience of playing Hornienfeld?

(+1)

I would like to say that it does. It makes the story a lot easier to read. In my mind, if I mess something up, I need to restart with reading so I make sure I didn't mess anything else up. Not sure if that's just a weird thing that happens to me or if anyone else has the same mental troubles as me. Other than that, Keep up the great work. (I wanted to say good, but it was too good to be good)

Developer

I agree, I (Dianus - Hornienfeld tester) also encounter this all the time when playing the game. the narrative is probably too dynamic, but Azuma (developer) says it's a feature... also the grammar is bad, but we'll try to fix it. so i think you should just enjoy the game (if possible) even if something slips away
