Settings menu and aiming is horrendous... "realism vs practical"

Sorry to use a word like "horrendous" in the title. ':D But I want to add a bit of important feedback, in regards to the settings when pressing [Esc], as well as the "realism" of how looking around in game feels...

SETTINGS MENU:

Having the hand holding the tablet move constantly, makes it near impossible to adjust some of the settings. So seeing that you can't adjust the settings using your keyboard, and instead HAVE to use your mouse, makes it extremely frustrating to adjust everything.

For example toggling Vertical Sync is hard, because of the constantly moving tiny box, that you gotta repeatedly try and hit with your cursor... And the same goes for the rest of the settings. Maybe add keyboard functionality, if you don't have plans of changing the hand constantly moving? :)

Also, mouse sensitivity is WAAAAYYY too low, even when maxed out in the settings. :/ It needs to at least be twice as fast, to be somewhat comfortable.

LOOKING AROUND:

I understand that this is a "realistic body cam" game, and trust me, I have played my fair share of them... But while some things are done in order to "appear realistic", they can also get uncomfortable during gameplay. Most "realistic body cam" games struggle with how looking around in-game is handled, and it is typical to see them borderline being "too realistic", to the point where you get nausea playing the game...

When booting up the game for the first time, I noticed that there is an "effect" added, when moving the mouse, where everything "warps"... Almost as if a "drunk filter" is activated... And this gets EXTREMELY sickening unfortunately. :/ This effect should either be removed asap, or have a toggle option in the settings menu. And I'm not the type to get motion sick hehe.

Secondly, moving the mouse to look around, has EXTREME smoothing applied... And adding that on top of the already MUCH too low mouse speed options, it means you gotta drag the mouse across the mouse mat 3 times, in order to do a 180 degree turn... Which feels even worse with the mouse smoothing.

Don't take this as critique, but as feedback. :) I love games like this, and want to be able to play them, without getting nausea.

That all being said... I only just booted up the game for the first time, so I will try and fight the nausea to give it a proper go. :)

Damn, that was harsh lmao.

Hey there. Thanks for playing regardless.

I understand your frustrations for sure. There is actually a new patch in the process of being uploaded as I type this that (among other many things) added an option to turn off the camera shake. It will make it completely still.

Unfortunately, I will not be adding an option to disable the bodycam postprocessing, as that is what my game is supposed to be. I'm sorry if you feel sick playing it or if you won't play anymore, but it is what it is. You're actually the first person to say this, weirdly.

As for the sensitivity, this isn't supposed to be a high action shooter, it's not CS2 or something. I've said this to others as well, having the character turn too quickly makes the turn-in-place animation glitch out and that just looks stupid. Plus, it's a pretty slow paced game. I'm sorry if that bothers you. The best thing you could do, if you are really annoyed by the sens, is to turn up your mouse DPI I guess.

In any case, thank you again for the feedback and for playing the game. I hope you enjoyed it, even with the problems :D

God bless.

Sorry about the harsh post. ':D Re-reading it I see that it seems very negative, and I tried editing it, but itchio wouldn't apply my edit. xD So it "remained too negative". I really did give it a good try to make it appear more positive in the "post edit", which wouldn't update. ':D

About the "bodycam postprocessing", I didn't mean the default body cam postprocessing. THAT looks great, and should be there to make a good body cam game. :). What I mean, is when moving the mouse, there is a blur and a additional "warp effect" happening (best way I can describe it)... ONLY when moving the mouse... And that gets nauseating. :|

I would also like to add, that after getting so far as to pick up the gun, the smooth movement made sense, since it was clearly there to support the "gun in hand" movement, which looks absolutely great btw. ^^

I still need to "run my mouse 3 times across my mouse pad", to turn 180... But hopefully once I have tried the demo fully, there won't be a moment that require a 180 turn. :) For now, I'll increase the DPI as you suggested, while trying this build. :)

Thanks for not taking the first post personally, as it definitely came out more negative than I meant for it to be. ':D

Of course, brother. Like I said in the description, every comment is welcome, especially constructive criticism.

I think I understand you now. The warp effect you're talking about is the fisheye lens I've added, making it look like a real bodycam recording. If indeed it is too much for you guys, as I understand that some people have motion sickness, I can and will for sure find a way to give you guys control over it, as I did with the camera shake. So I will keep that in mind for the next patch.

Don't worry about the original post, it didn't come off as negative, I was joking lol.

Thanks again for playing, man.

Are you planning on fixing the constantly moving menu? It makes it impossible to change settings.

Developer

There is already a "fix". You have a button in the settings to disable the camera shake. Did you look around even for a little bit?

It took 30 minutes to fix the resolution and blurry text issues, was done with the menu after that, lol. Will take a look, thank you.

I hope it doesn't feel like I'm piling on, keep up the good work.

Developer

Thank you. Don't worry, I didn't take it in bad faith. I already implemented a "fix" where the shake stops completely while in the menu and then resumes when you put the tablet down. I just didn't upload it because I'm working on the full game and it has really swamped me.

I'm sorry to say but this game or demo is unplayable. I tried many settings that didn't change anything. In the beginning graphic glitches appeared on the walls non-stop and I have a really really strong PC.

Please don't get me wrong, the start is great and the potential is huge, but you still have a lot to do.

Unfortunately I had to end the game at the point where everything went dark. I somehow moved from light to light for over an hour. I somehow got through several doors without seeing anything at all, but nothing happened anymore, as if I was stuck in a loop and have to Alt+F4 the Game because the ESC button wasn't working anymore.

I really hope you get the game fixed, I have it on the wishlist on Steam.

Best regards
