Program Stopped Responding to my Mic

So I've been using PNGTuber+ on my Mac and it's been a dandy lil program for the most part. Today while booting up to record, I opened PNGTuber+, spent about five min checking all my sprites/costumes worked and responded to my voice, then I put in my airpods (for output audio) and PNGTuber+ disconnected from my mic and I've been wholly unable to reconnect it. I've gone through this set up process at least 100 times in the past with all the same equipment and this is the first time this has happened. PNGTuber+ was connected to my mic during the test and all sprites/costumes responded until I popped in my airpods and then it just full stopped.

-It shows both in system settings/Input and on OBS that my mic (Seirin mini) is working, but PNGTuber+ just isn't picking it up. PNGTuber+ is responding and registering sound from my Mac's built in microphone. I'd bite the bullet and record with that if the audio quality didn't sound like forks in a garbage disposal.

-I know the airpods have their own mic, I'm assuming that's where this issue occurred- but in system settings I don't have an option to not use it. It's either automatically connect, left pod, or right pod. Google results say there's a mute option- there's not. (These are the first iteration so maybe that's why?) My mic has never disconnected from PNGTuber+ before unless I've selected another option for input audio. I've never had to re-select it or anything after putting in my airpods.

- I've checked and made sure all software and programs and items are up-to-date. I've tried unplugging and replugging the mic in. I've restarted the computer and PNGTuber+. I've deleted and reinstalled PNGTuber+. I've gone through computer files manually to 'give permissions' for the mic- or whatever the mac equivalent of that is. (Never had to do that previously). Nothin. I'm not sure what went wrong this time or why. Knowing my luck it's going to be the silliest thing causing this issue, but so far none of the typical fixes or google search rigamarole has worked. I didn't see anybody with this situation here or on the reddit thread that I could see, so figured I may as well ask.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated, thanks. Also sorry for the massive text block, trying to be as clear as I can to avoid running in circles. Can provide screenshots/ vids if needed.

EDIT:  After letting my desktop sit unplugged for 2 weeks thinking it might be something there: problem is still present.

OBS records my voice fine with my mic, so it still works and functions as it is supposed to- but PNGTuber+ isn't connecting still. At this point idk what to do other than buying another mic and hoping PNGTuber+ likes that one, or swapping to a different program for avatar&mic connection which really sucks.

This happened to me as well. I've been trying older versions and the same problem keeps happening, so I wonder it's something else that broke.

EDIT: And now the program started working normally again for no reason I can discern.

This is the console output I get when running Plus from the terminal, just to get some logs.
Not sure if this means something is missing for v 1.4.5, but the program seems to work normally otherwise.

Thanks so much for the info! I’ll check and see what mines saying.  (I’m not the best with tech but this has completely baffled me. I just wish I knew what I did to cause this so I can avoid it in future lol)

I wish I could say this was fixed but it happened to me again, and I had to go a full stream with a non-talking avatar.

It's possible it was something on my end because Linux audio is hell.
The terminal was showing me errors over Pulse Audio not being in a valid state (yet everything else that wanted access to the mic worked just fine).
And then the next day, it worked again.

So, nothing really for me to go on and no useful info to share unless the kaiakairos can point me to where log files can be  found.

Wish I had better news but on my Linux system, whether or not PNGTuberPlus picks up on the mic correctly seems almost random.

Without rebooting the whole system, I can re-run PNGTuberPlus and sometimes it works normally and sometimes it doesn't.
I found some more logs by running the program through the terminal and adding the `--verbose` option.
But I saw nothing that looked like an error to track down.

EDIT:
Update, it seems even when the program picks up on the mic, it can drop it randomly and go back to not picking up audio.

I've been searching to see if anyone else was having a similar issue. My AirPods show up as a microphone option in the program, but no matter how I fiddle with the settings, my voice isn't picked up at all. They work perfectly fine in OBS, but I've never gotten the mic to work for PNGtuber+. The only mics that work are my wired headphones and the default mic of my MacBook Air.

same shtick for me, obs hears my mic but PNGTuber+ doesn't hear anything no matter what I try
(im also on Mac btw)

was this ever solved? because i'm having the same issue, which is annoying.

Not yet anyways.

Since I'm actively streaming, I couldn't wait for a fix. So I had to switch everything over to Veadotube Mini.

It doesn't do the kinds of dynamic animation you can get in PNGTuberPlus, but it's reliable and easy to use.

Hopefully this issue gets solved one day and I can return to it, but for now I've had to shelve it.

I am also having this issue.

Sorry but Kaikairos has already stated they won't be returning to work on PNGTuberPlus.

If you're having this issue, you're better off looking to a different pngtubing application instead of looking to hacks and  workarounds.

Damn thats a shame. I'm also having this issue (Win11) and the only thing that would temporarily fix it was closing the application and reopening it. I love how dynamic pngtuber+ makes my character so I kinda dont want to go back to veadomini
