I tried to get the game with the introductory price but itch.io is saying I need to pay 2.99 vs the 1.99 for the introductory price

I see many people paid a $1.00 tip (according to itch) so I'm not sure what happens when people pay using that method.

A couple people were able to pay just 1.99 for it so it must be possible to do it. What does it say exactly?
