Good concept but too convoluted to be fun

Been around since the beginning of the game. It was rough but at least it was understandable.

It's ridiculous now. You have no idea if You're softlocked or not.
The "tips" from the community on escaping restraints are silly. They tell You to wait for prison break - but how long? I've been waiting at the prison for an hour or more for several attempts now and nothing happens. Or maybe it does but it doesn't end with me being free from my 6 torso bindings, 7 collars,  6 masks and bazillion other restraints I'm not going to bother counting - I have no idea because there is a ton of weird factions running around and fighting or mingling with themselves.
Asking for help of the Goddess? Well good luck with the guards having bat ears and multiple collars giving You renewing restraints. Maybe those tips can work somehow - but to get them to work You have to read all the logs on github like most of those players do
And I'm playing on normal mode ofc.
The author is creating some final boss fights at the end of the game  instead of creating a coherent explanation resource for people who are not going to be studying github for days. I've been playing this game for I think at least 50hours on the spectrum of several years and I have no idea how do You get back from prison free.
At one point there was an understandable system with prison guard npcs and secret escape routes but it was long abandoned. Probably github buddies didn't like it, must have been too understandable.

I know this minirant is quite chaotic but that's how this game leaves you after a couple hours of researching and trying escaping from jail following those ridiculous "tips". Fed up, exhausted, angry and disappointed that a game with such a great concept has been brought to this state.

And why on earth had the old customization system been abandonned. It was so neat, all kind of detailed characters could have been created. And now it's a variation of one character with different haircuts with the faction npcs clothes

Oh and any help on escaping prison requested by a fellow non-github-reader a couple threads down is responded with a tip that basically suggests to use cheats. WHY IS THAT NOT ADDRESSED

All the info is in the game. When you are imprisoned, factions that you have decent to high rep with will come to rescue you after a short time. You can speed this along by resting. It is possible that you have no factions with good reputation. A rescue attempt also doesn't guarantee you'll escape as it's just a couple people showing up that will let you out of the cell and aid in your escape.

If you don't like this there are customization options available to you in the game where you can set prison mode to easy so someone will always come to rescue you regardless of reputation and the rescue is guaranteed. I think if you do it this way it's the shopkeeper from the start of the run and she will ask for compensation for rescuing you.

This game (on standard settings) seems to be intended to be a rogue-like adventure where you can fail. If you are stuck in prison and can't get out it might be time to quit your play through and start a new one if you so choose, or load from an earlier point using the codes provided. The game is super customizable and you can change it to be or more or less difficult in areas of your choosing.

I was overlooking a lot of option when i first started, sure the godess shrine will help you for a price, but keeping submissiveness low will keep the ghost friendly, have a faction on your side or freeing prisonners will give you allies you can keep at the beggining of the level to once again help with tough restrains.

the best tip in my opinion is to customise your run. a lot of perks helps to get free, and getting a head start on getting stronger will prevent you from getting stuck in 20 restrains in the first place.

thief if i recall correctly, with all the right perks, if very hard to get soft locked. asking for a restrain from a roaming NPC can refresh the 12 turn of very strong struggling that stack with the 4 escape artist, that stack with willfull struggle, that stack with.... you get the idea.

mage can cast will all but the strongest gag and muzzle witht the right perk too and you have spells to unlock yourself. look for a way to sustain mana and it become hard to become soft locked.

one of my most enjoyable run was with bound crusader, where accepting quest would lock me in 3 random restrains until the quest completion, mage witht he right perk and spell selection is rarely out of option to complete the quest, and you can use the point for perks like using keys even with bound hand for exemple, wich is a nice safeguard if you have trouble keeping friendly npc around.

Yeah, I was a bit angry when I was writing that. Maybe I'm just not familiar with the roguelike genre and have a bad mindset. The game might be quite straightforward for other players

I don't know how you are getting caught so often. The first few floors you pretty much have to intentionally stand in enemy attacks to be bound. Maybe you should adjust your starting perks.

I don't know anyone know this but if you stay long enough in the prison, eventually the enemy will just let's you go (I test it many time before), but how soon they will release you depend on your relationship with them (if you have higher than 80 reputation with the faction that capture you, there is a chance they will just release you after like 10-20 turns). But if you reputation with them is so low (for example below 20) they will still release you but it take a very long time (more than 500 turns).
- My best tips for those who are capture by low reputation faction is to use the wait option and stand still (even if it mean that you will have to let them restrain you but you really can't do anything at that point anyway). Then they will release you after couple hundred of turns and all you need to do is try to escape and avoid any contact.
- It's also a good idea for you to save as much money as possible (more than 10k) so when you are captured either by accident or on purpose you can go and buy items at commercial shrine, which with enough spending they will open a portal to go to the shopkeeper then you can ask her to remove restrain.
- If you are playing as rogue (which I use the most), it's best for you to unlock the "problem solving" skill first (escape take longer but with better efficiency).
