Looking for feedback on the demo for my Indie RTS game

Hi All,

I've had the demo for Block Strategy here and on steam for the past few weeks but haven't received any feedback. I'd love to get some thoughts from someone. I'm looking for general feedback and impressions of the game.  The demo can be found here.

The game is a singleplayer RTS with roguelite elements. It has a limit on the number of units you can have as the idea is to upgrade and specialise these units.

There is a tutorial, but as it takes around 10 minutes I've given the option to skip it if you want to get right into the action. If you do, then just know that the objective is to build a base to defend against waves of enemies and the best way to do this is by going out into the world and fighting bosses.

I guess more specific questions I'd like to know the answer to are:

  • Is the game fun?
  • Was the tutorial/ onboarding appropriate?
    • if you skipped the tutorial then did you get lost or did you enjoy being thrown in at the deep end?
  • How was the performance?
  • Was it clear what to do?
  • Would you buy this game? If not why not?

Hi, I tried it. Cool game.

Is the game fun?

Yes, very! One thing I might change is the main song which plays before you ever start the actual game, ie before you start playing. It wasn't my favorite, but it may come down to personal preference as well.

How was the performance?

A little janky, but decent too. This was on a Core Ultra with integrated graphics and 16GB RAM.

Was it clear what to do?

I didn't play too far, but no complaints here.

Would you buy the game?

Yes, but I'd keep the price to $3-$4, is my recommendation. Significant changes or upgrades, could warrant a higher price tag, though. Especially further upgrades to graphics and music, as I feel the fun factor to this game is there already.
