Possible Bug - Game menu disappearing while in game

It seems that while I'm in game and press Esc, the game menu shows for a brief second but then disappears. No matter how fast I click, I am unable to use the menu to load, save or exit the game. This apparent bug exists no matter what speed I have the game running, or even if it's paused. I have to Alt+F4 out of the game and lose my progress (figured that out when I encountered the bug but really needed to change my graphics settings). I'm far enough in this particular game that I don't want to exit because I am unsure of whether or not there are autosaves. If autosave doesn't exist, I heartily suggest this be added in a later edition of the game.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate, GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 555M, CPU: Intel Core i7-2760QM

Network engineer here, so basic steps are followed as soon as driver updates are available.

Feedback is appreciated on status or workaround already implemented, thanks!

Bug confirmed however it's picky. If I am hovered over my colony, the bug appears, but if I move the camera out to a less used part of the map, the menu appears fine. It may be a lag-related issue (system is closer to minimum specs).

Are you forcing the Nvidia card via the Nvidia Control Panel? I'm wondering if the game is using your Intel card not the Nvidia one

I...was not forcing the card. I have changed my settings and will test it out this evening.

Edit: That seems to have helped quite a bit. There is still quite a bit of frame lag when I'm over the main body of my colony but the game will always pause now.
