Question about Current Dev Thoughts on Steam Keys

Hey, folks, I've already bought the game, but I had a really quick question- I've seen Steam Keys mentioned, and a recommendation that those who want them wait until the Steam release in 2017; that aside, I prefer to buy games I like as soon as possible, so my money can back development and provide a solid incentive for continued work. So, given I've already bought the game, any hope of you folks talking with Valve about key cross-compatibility for beta users? I know Valve doesn't like Steam keys being offered before a game is in Early Access, so I don't need anything concrete, just wondering if that is a goal for you as devs or if I should just be prepared to buy the game again.

We're discussing this with Valve. Naturally, we'd love to give Steam keys to our itch.io customers if Valve allows it, but right now, it seems that even promising a Steam key based on an itch.io purchase when the game isn't available on Steam appears to be a violation of the Steam Terms of Service -- and we don't want to make any promises we can't be 100% sure we can deliver on.

So, we've requested clarification from Valve, and we'll let you know what we find ou

Thanks much, mothership; as I said, I completely understand if you can't say anything concrete- all I really want to know is what your objectives are. If you try and in the end Valve won't let you, fair play.

As I said in the other topic, I would suggest that you take the course of Rimworld's creator, Tynan Sylvester. Once the game hit steam, he got the ability to distribute an infiite amount of keys, so he set up a system where all people who bought it could redeem a key. Be aware that steam forums can explode quickly, and I would hate to see negative reviews piling on Aven, because it is a pretty damn good game.
