Hey, everyone. Lately people keep asking certain questions about their games not being visible on the site. Please read this post first.

In fact, please read the rules of this category! There's a big bold heading at the top of the page, click it!

Also, please do what the rules say and skim the Search & Browse FAQ. Even if it doesn't answer your question, it's a good starting point.

The rules also tell you how to get more help if you're stuck, so please read!

Now, about the missing questions.

"Why isn't my game indexed yet?"

First, did you wait for at least one day? Actually the FAQ says it can take a few days, but waiting times vary. Please be patient! Also, once your game page is public you can start promoting it on your own website, social media and so on. That's going to help more than waiting for people to find it here.

(On a personal note: you should make a website. You can even do it for free.)

"But it's been a week / a month / a long time!"

Games in the review queue are prioritized by several criteria. The most important is having genuine traffic to the game page coming from outside itch.io. In other words: the best way to get your game reviewed sooner is to share the link around so people come and see it! If you wait for your game to be indexed it's just going to take even longer.

That said, if it takes a really long time, see the rules of this category for how you can get an answer more quickly.

"Why did my game disappear from the site? It was visible before."

When you make certain changes to a game page, it gets flagged automatically so that someone from the staff takes a look again. Exactly what changes count is a secret so people don't try to cheat the system. You probably did nothing wrong. Please wait. If it takes too long, see above!

"I've been told my game is 'quarantined' – what's that mean?!"

It simply means your game was automatically flagged for itch.io staff to take a closer look. See the previous question.

"But why is it happening to me?"

The exact criteria are secret so people don't try to evade the checks. Make sure to follow the quality guidelines.

This is it for now. Many thanks to the helpful person who suggested this topic. Remember that the community forum has its own search box. Use it to see if your problem has been discussed before.
