Hello everyone! My name is Lucas, the creator of Unreal Barrage, and in this post I would like to give more context as to how this project started and why I published it.
The game started as a small side project to learn how to work with Unreal Engine. I thought it would be cool to remake my very first published game, Local Barrage, which was a local multiplayer game made in Unity a couple of years ago.
Through many ideas and much development, the small side project began to take shape as a more complete game. So, I kept developing it—learning new skills, adding more content, and polishing (a lot)—until I had something worth showing to friends and family.
I received a lot of positive first impressions from everyone who tried it. The average playtime was around 40 minutes, and the most requested feature was to have both local and online multiplayer to play with others.
My idea is to release this free, AI-only version and see if it gains any attention. If it does, I plan to transform it into an online multiplayer game with the option for local multiplayer as well—if possible. I would also add more levels, weapons, music, game modes, and other features, eventually selling it. I would publish the paid multiplayer version on both Itch and Steam.
If you tried it, I hope you enjoyed it!
