Hello everyone! In the last month, I have been developing this 2D action rage platformer called Ugly-Thing: Game I on Construct 3, and am finally publishing it on itch. This game is inspired on games like Super Mario World, Pico Park, and Cat Mario (or Syobon Action), although most of the game has its own flare of uniqueness.
On the game, you play as Ugly-Thing, a member of the Cube species, inhabitants of Cubeland. His entire species, including himself, were kidnapped by delusional Texto, the only textbox remaining in the universe, he's not really that much of an evil guy, maybe a bit, he just wants to be a renowned scientist, and he is doing so by kidnapping thousands of species and putting them through torturous test courses, most die. Their species was taken to Sectors A and B of Texto's giant spaceship facility. Ugly-Thing has been finally picked to do the tests, he is a very brave and smart Cube, filled with determination, he knew he was to sabotage the facility and pass on every single test on the course, no matter what.
As for gameplay, the game, as previously mentioned, is a rage game platformer, so when playing, keep in mind you WILL rage, like I myself did. The levels on the game were designed in a way you can just mindlessly press D to go to the right, you must have timing, and sometimes rhythm, to pass on these levels. These levels, surprisingly, have been described by some players as "annoying but oddly fun", which surprised even me, tbh. The levels in Ugly-Thing are annoying and difficult, but once you actually begin analyzing and playing them a lot, you become good in them, and they become easy. The player will find some "Goobers" around the levels, they are essentially either younger Cubes, from ages 0-20, or smaller Cubes, like dwarves, unlike human children, Goobers are much more mature and smart. But what's they use? They are like the coins of this game, while not yet integrated, once the game is complete, when the player collects all the Goobers in one sector of the facility, they will unlock a secret level. Cool, right? Lastly, the game doesn't just have platforming level, the game also has puzzle levels (although sometimes they're closer to mini-challenges with much, MUCH simpler level design that normal levels), the puzzles are pretty simple, don't worry, you won't get stuck.
The game is still in development, the full game will have many more features: bosses, grappling hooks, save systems, UI, level selector, secret levels, and more!
