Could you help me find my save file?

Hello everyone.

A few weeks ago I was loving this game, had lots of hours in it, maybe even days. Cleaned up the base, got all the upgrades and modules. Then my computer bluescreened. Luckily my hard drive was fine, i just needed to reinstall windows. (I was able to keep files, but apps and programs got delted).

I tried doing the %appdata% thing to look at my game saves, but there is only one, for a new game. I'm wondering if there is a way to dig up my old game save from the files I backed up onto a different drive? I don't know how I would access them, considering that appdata seems to be system based, idk how to access that within another folder if that makes sense.

Please help.

Thank you.

What did you back up, the whole user's folder (C:\Users\YourName)? Or just the individual folders like Desktop, Documents, etc?

both! i did both because i was overly worried. but yeah, i have a system image and also just copied all my data over.

thanks

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\VotV\Saved\SaveGames

yeah, i had tried this with no luck. Out of curiosity I even tried just doing "D:\Users\" and it could not find that either. (but if i manually go into my drive I can find my user profile easily). thanks for the reply this is what the backed up directory looks like

You see, if you did it with just Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V, I don't think Windows copied hidden directories like AppData. Open `D:\CT50OMX500SSD1\Backup Fri, Dec 13 24 21:05:57 CT500OMX500SSD1\Users\You` in the file explorer and try to search for `VotV` or maybe just `AppData` in the search field. If it doesn't find it, then it's permanently lost... You just have to say a few well-deserved heavy slurs to Microsoft and next time backup AppData separately. You also mentioned you made an image, did you, like, copy the whole drive into a .img file or completely clone the drive onto another using a third party app? If so, AppData must be there.

Thank you!!! this worked, everything is in there:)) Really appreciate the help. I'm really glad I could post here, I tried on the reddit and they basically said "idk, try to find it lol".  Really appreciate this helpful community

Okay, this way =>

D:\CT500MX500SSD1\Backup Fri, Dec 13 24 21:05:57 CT500MX500SSD1\D:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\VotV\Saved\SaveGames

As you might have guessed, you had to follow the path specified according to the location of your backup.

WOOOO it worked, they are all there!!! Thank you so much. 40 hours of progress salvaged (,:  I swear I had tried that file path before with no results, but i guess yours was more accurate! Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
